Is it just me or do you guys feel like having to write an essay for school about the book your reading kind of ruins your enjoyment of it?

When it comes to reading a book in class, I feel like it’s just extremely over the top. It definitely ruins the enjoyment. For me it’s because I am a fast reader, but our teacher reads to the class while we follow along. I’m usually done with the worksheets that correspond to those chapters before we even get through the first ten pages. We are reading Tallgrass by Sandra Dallas right now and we just gone done with the third chapter. We’ve been reading this for two weeks now, and it’s extremely irritating because we only get a worksheet per two chapters, and she doesn’t allow us to receive the worksheet for the next two chapters until everyone is done with the previous worksheet. It’s excessive and I feel like I spend my class time doing nothing while the teacher reads. It’s not as bad as my chemistry teacher making us spend an entire class period watching water drip through a filter(this happened on Friday), but still. I don’t get to enjoy the book as much.

When I was studying for literature exams, I hated the studies but was hooked on books and lived in libraries. I have never understood your point of view. I would really love to hear you expand on this, because I think I have missed something here. Please just express your pleasure at this or that, or does it perhaps help re-live the book, or help savour the events, or relate the book to your life. I sometimes wonder if my thinking about a book, and living the lives of the characters in my mind is a kind of analysis, but still find formal educational analysis is a killer, more like a pathologist report than a biography.
Would love to hear your reply.

I'm a naturally kind of a deep thinker (please don't hate on me for that), so thinking about the deeper meaning of the book just makes me enjoy it more. It helps me relate to the book better too. I analyze stuff more with classics and books that you usually read in a school setting and less often with genres like romance, but yeah sometimes I just want an escape and don't want to think at all. It just depends on my mood I guess 🤷
no because it literally you just talking about the book but in essay form i LOVE writing essays about the books I love to read!
Guys is it just me or does the day just make you so tired and bored that you just want to curl up with your animals and read?
