Completion Post -- Week 1Book: Bride
Completed: 4/30/25
Rating: 5 stars
Review: This is a weird mix of normal contemporary romance and old school PNR and I can see why readers expecting only one or the other may not have liked it. I love both genres and found this to be a fun read. I found the overall plot interesting and I enjoyed the slowish burn between the MCs. I have only recently started reading this author and love her vibe and banter so it was kind of an easy sell for me.

Review: I've struggled with each book in this series and this wasn't any different. I like the overall plot and think the story is going in interesting directons. The problem I run into is that I feel like the spice takes up too much of the story in a -- to me -- awkward and unnecessary way. I want to find out what happens in the next book, but not sure its worth it to continue.
Updated to hereThe only thing missing is completion posts from Emeli & Berit. We are looking great!!
Be back later for next call.

Review: Loved this one!!!!!! It was heart breaking what all Jackson has gone through. He and Ellery were perfect for each other. I loved Ellery's mom she cracked me up to no end. It's been awhile since I spent time with Jackson & Ellery, forgot how much I missed them.

Review:
Clara was a little annoying. I don't think she came off as the ultra-smart female in the regency era who was being stifled in her role as a Lady. Think you needed more interactions outside of Radford to prove the things she was saying. She has a scene where she breaks down sobbing because she's feeling stifled. It was odd timing since she's literally running around the city playing hero to a bunch of kids.

I never reread, but I absolutely loved this series the first time around, so I thought I’d give it another shot. And let me tell you, I barely remember anything after seven years, but I still enjoyed it just as much. Oh, and I have to add something else to this review. I’m now a huge fan of Kate Daniels, but it took me a while to warm up to her. Nevada is definitely going on my BFF list!💛
In my opinion, it’s much easier to write an amazing male character, and Mad Rogan is definitely amazing… but it seems like it’s tough to write a strong, smart, sassy, female character, and Nevada is all of those and more! I had a hard time connecting with Kate Daniels, and I never really got into that series for that reason. But I absolutely adored Nevada from the very beginning… and I think a lot of that was because of her close bond with her family. I love that family, especially Grandma. The magic was so intriguing, and the politics were fascinating. I can’t recommend this book enough!

Review: A nice small town, coming home romance. The MCs were snarky and sarcastic and perfect for each other. I enjoy the friend group that's being developed in this series and the fact that each of them actually has an identifiable personality rather than all blending. A good pick if you just need a nice palate cleanser or easy read.

Sometimes I wonder what this series is trying to be. Romantic suspense or mystery...maybe a little of both. This one handed you the villain, and you were waiting for the inevitable outcome of them either getting killed (as in previous books) or going to jail.
I really do enjoy the interactions between Eve and Roark, and that's what made the book halfway entertaining. Also, Peabody is just the funniest person.

Review: There was so much I loved about this one. The one liners, Ty's family, Zane's family other than his mother, she was just a straight up bitch & the kitties. I'm afraid to read the next book as I read some of the reviews & don't really want to go backwards & them fighting again. But off to the next one.

Book: P.S. You're Intolerable
Completed: 5/14/25
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This is a new author to me and I'm not a huge fan of a pregnancy trope, but this won me over. It took a while to get going, but the slow burn through the middle was great. It's a great grumpy sunshine with mature characters that actually talked things through. And bonus -- no 3rd act breakup!
💼Week 3Option 1: Read a book with a main character who is a lawyer
Date: 5/11
I haven't read a John Grisham book in a while, it was a lot of fun to pick this one up. I thoroughly enjoyed A Time to Kill And it was fun to revisit those characters again. The court case in the story was compelling and once again Jake did a wonderful job as a defense attorney. If you like the first two books in the series you will definitely like this one, and I noticed there's a fourth book that I'm going to need to pick up ASAP
💼 Jake is a lawyer
‼️ Completion PostWeek #4
Option 1: Read a book with punctuation in the title
Date: 5/16
I absolutely adore this book! I found it incredibly realistic, as it portrayed romantic relationships in a way that was refreshingly different from the usual vacuum-like approach. It was a refreshing change to see a book that focused on how the lives of others and their surroundings impact romantic relationships. I also appreciated the prominence of the characters and their family dynamics over the romance itself. Xavier was a wonderful character, and his love for animals was evident throughout the book. He seemed to have a knack for knowing exactly what to do at the right moment in the right situation. Samantha was a bit more unpredictable, but I found her relatable. I’ve heard many complaints about the excessive pop culture references in the book, but perhaps it’s because I’m older that I either missed them or didn’t perceive them as being that many. In my opinion, Abby Jimenez can do no wrong. 🐕 🐈 ❤️

Review: I love this series. I also love how much Donavon loves & protects Jon when he is most vulnerable. I hated how the police didn't heed the warnings from Jon and tried to push him farther then he was able to go. If you don't understand something, do a little research. This was pretty scary what was going on with the killer.

Book: Holiday in Death

Review: Its fun to go back and read the beginning of this series. Eve and Rourke are still feeling their way through the start of their marriage. The friend group is still small but growing steadily. And it seems like the murders are a little more gritty than they are at the end of the series. (The audiobooks for this series are great)
