I hope your exams went well…I don’t miss those days for sure.
I’m traveling the next few days still. I have aged Dads I’m spending time with…both still very independent ;)Lots of reading time during my 7 hr drive. I’ll update my spots on Monday night.
Is this green?
I'm not sure if we even need it as a green cover or if it has the letters we need... but just wondered if it would count if it does work.

Have fun with your dads! Enjoy the trip!

I'm not sure how I'll do with the audio, but that's all I could get right away. It's a book club read so I wanted to get started, but I'm also particular about what kinds of books I can listen to and I'm not sure if this one fits the bill. If I can't do it, I'm going to try to borrow the physical book from my sister so we'll see.

I’ll add to this conversation…a lot of the time, if I can get audio and a book from the library I read both versions. In that case, you should record in your read file the version you want. We always use the version we read for this challenge…pick one :)
Ashley, I added your book, The God of the Woods in Hand Nine to a 2 so that it works for the Draw 2 in that hand. When you finish it, just add the completion date to both places, or Tammie or I can do so when we go through and check the spreadsheet.

Good day E.T.I hope everyone is enjoying your books for far for March!
We're @ 21% read so far this month...which is slightly better than we were in February....just a tad behind where we need to be pace-wise.
The mini will show up later this week...please check in and let us know how you are doing if you haven't yet this month...happy reading!
Christina, for your book Last Resort in Hand Five, I added it to the 9 in that hand so it also covers a Draw 2. If you think of it, would you fill in both completion dates when you finish the book? Tammie or I can easily do it when we check books, too.
Chava, for your book 20th Victim in Hand Twelve, I added it to the Reverse in that hand so it also covers a Draw 2. If you think of it, would you fill in both completion dates when you finish the book? Tammie or I can easily do it when we check books, too.

Another update for everyone!
We’re doing well on our more difficult cards.
We have 2 color cards left: 4Yellow and a Draw4
3x REV
8x 5…and no back up I’s…I’ll put this on our critical watch…if you can take a hard look at your current claims for any i’s…move or just add to backup options just in case.
Thanks everyone :)
Once I got through the first 100 pages, I was able to get through the rest of
pretty quickly. I finished it today. I have 2 more books that I definitely have to read this month and will put them on the spreadsheet soon. I have flexibility after that and am hoping I'll be able to squeeze maybe 2 more in, depending on how it goes. I'm very flexible with one of those, so I can try to hunt something down based on what we need for the mini and our main card. I do have one book as an option for my other prompt that would work for 1 of our 5s, but it has a blue cover and I always hate to waste those when we don't know what we'll get next month. Still, I would definitely consider reading it if we still need 5s at that point.
I found quite a few I books on my to-read shelf that I can get at the library. I will pick a couple when I can go later in the week.

The MINI has been posted

Any book you'll finish for March 15 through March 31...please find a home for it on the MINI....please go by the timer :)
If you have a book that will work for a particularly difficult task, please consider holding off to finish it until after the official start of the MINI...your choice :)
COUNTDOWN to START of MINI > https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
Audrey, I asked about your use of a Roman numeral for the 5 card in Hand 2 just to be safe, and this was the response: It’s a tricky one as although V is five in Roman numerals, we read Henry V as “Henry the fifth”.
I just checked with my husband who is generally the UNO tiebreaker and he read the title as “the fifth” so I wouldn’t use it as five
I have moved it to the 0 right below where it was.
Thanks for checking, Maria Jo :)I will check my shelves for another book instead in order to cover that 5 card.
Finished reading A Haunting in the Arctic which I liked. It's definitely haunting and sometimes quite gruesome (and everyone is deplorable) so not my favourite but very atmospheric and want to read more books by the author.Added Obernewtyn for a 5 card (I - author).
On the March mini, for the publications tasks - does it refer to first published or edition we are reading?
Nistha wrote: "On the March mini, for the publications tasks - does it refer to first published or edition we are reading?"Always the version you are reading...but I'll check to see if original pub date is also OK.

Thanks for confirming :) I have removed the original ones for now
Doing some SS maintenance this evening...@ Nistha
For the book The Butterfly Tattoo
This book is MPG 'childrens'.
Rule: 5. Books must be at least 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive)
I could find neither.
Is there a source that you have that can verify these with a link of some kind. We can request an edit for the book and/or just link up the verification.
@Christina
Please add Pros and Cons of Vengeance to your UNO shelf
@Chava
Please add Gathering Dark to your UNO shelf

I wasnt able to find it either. I have the audibook in borrowbox which is our library app and the hours is 4+ but there's no link. No worries, we can remove this one then :)

.For other times when I may not be able to focus on reading, are there certain mini tasks that we think might be harder that I should focus on trying to find something for?

Not always easy to find.
Friends shelves are a pretty good place to start because GRs has page counts you can sort.
Harder mini tasks...these are my 'one person' opinion and may not apply to everyone...I haven't seen the PIXIE books yet...so remember if they have an option for these, we can always try that list...we get 2 books from the list.
Read a book with MPG Alternate History or tagged minimum 10x
Read a book from the shelf ALIEN or ALIENS
Read a book with a character working in an office
Read a book with a character who works in the construction industry
Read a book where a character disappears
Read a book with a character's name starting with or containing an X
Read a book with some kind of fish on the cover
Read a book with a spaceship on the cover

I forgot to get back on this ruling…either original pub date or version you are reading is ok

We are officially underway with the mini...any books finished from 6 hours ago until the end of this round work :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend planned...I've been picking up sticks for about an hour...had it easier than a lot of people who have lost power/didn't weather the storms last night...I hope you all are doing well.
I had to release one of the yellow cards I claimed as the wait list for the book was too long. I'll try to use it next month. Will keep looking for more yellow options.

Thanks for confirming :)
For the mini tasks that are like "a character work in an office", how important does the character have to be? I'm assuming it would be kind of the same as what we use for regular UNO cards. For example, in one of the books I'm reading, the friend/roommate of a girl who was murdered works in a law office. The detective (who is one of the MCs) goes to talk to her and there is a whole chapter of their conversation. Would this count even if she never appears in the book again?
Another mini question: for where a character disappears, can they reappear? Like if someone escapes from prison and no one can find them for like 2 years and then they do? Or a kid goes missing and then they find him (or his body) several years later or something? If he is never found and we know what happens to him but the characters in the book do not, does that count? (I actually don't know which if any of these scenarios might happen at this point.)
Also if anyone knows of a yellow book with an imaginary creature, let me know and I can try to cover one of the yellows. I'm not really into fantasy but am good with like a cozy fantasy type.. or something that is more like magical realism. Imaginary creatures can be like unicorns, or fae, or vampires, or dragons, or they will accept things like ghosts and angels that some people believe in but we don't have proof of.Preferably shortish - definitely under 500 pages.

For ex..."For this task I think of an office reference in the plot quite a lot...I did actually claim this one as the book I put there has a reference to one of the MCs going to the office about 10x and there's dialogue that happens in the office.
I think for tasks like this, you just use your best judgement.
I haven't filled in other options for the book as I need to read it yet...I used kindle to hunt for 'office' and worked back from there :)
Ashley wrote: "Another mini question: for where a character disappears, can they reappear? Like if someone escapes from prison and no one can find them for like 2 years and then they do? Or a kid goes missing and..."Yes...I think someone could disappear and then reappear. The task isn't really specific so again, use your best judgement. I can think of a couple of 'horror' books that work for this.
Just explain it well in the description section.

I don't read a whole lot of 'creature fantasy'.
What you might do is start with trying to find one of the mini tasks...but with a yellow cover. I'll let you know if I come across something.
I probably should just focus on actually reading my current books anyway. I have a lot left to read.
I found a short book with fish on the cover and it has a mermaid which I can use for the imaginary creature prompt in my other challenge. I'm going to start the audiobook later today. We'll see how many more books I can get through this month. I always read the most in these early months of the year because of UNO!
Yeah!I’ve knocked out several shorties again this month…just trying to be sure we get our cards all read for. So far we’re looking pretty good.
9 claims left for the mini…really 7 if we can use our pixie books
25claims left on our March tab…I haven’t checked yet…be sure anything on the mini is also on the March tab.
I’ve been super busy with work so I haven’t had time to check books lately…I hope to catch up on Saturday.
Hi all,I've had to remove 2 books of the spreadsheet. I can't finish those. I'll have the one remaining and I'll finish that by the end of next week. I might have another but not sure.
