Task 2: Reread a childhood favorite book.
Elizabeth wrote: "I am incredibly due for a reread of Anne of Green Gables, so I'm likely to go with that."Can't go wrong with that choice. I feel the same about Heidi.
Planning on The Westing Game and A Wrinkle in TimeWe’ll see if anything else comes to mind - I’ve always loved reading.
I'm reading Half Magic, by Edward Eager. I didn't realize it's a whole dang series so I'm super excited to read the rest as well.
Probably The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton JusterAlso considering From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg or The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander

+1 for The Phantom Tollbooth
I'm too old to remember childhood books BUT since I started reading Agatha Christie at the age of 12 (Nancy Drew got boring and my parents had no idea. they only cared that I was reading!), I'm going to reread And Then There Were None, which I THINK was the first one of hers that I read.
I'm rereading the first Trixie Belden story. I started reading this series when I was 8. I loved them! I was surprised to find that they were first published in 1948.

I loved Trixie too. Never got into Nancy Drew, I much preferred Trixie
Before even looking at this challenge I read Swallows and Amazons yesterday! but honestly I could reread childhood favourites all year
I created a Listopia for this prompt (I'm trying to make a list for every prompt): https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
Reading Anastasia Krupnik, which I didn't realize had also been banned, so that's two tasks taken care of. (It has an 4 letter word, the horror!)
Audra wrote: "Absolutely reading From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler for this task!" I read this with my daughter last year and it was just as marvelous reading it as an adult!
Elizabeth wrote: "I am incredibly due for a reread of Anne of Green Gables, so I'm likely to go with that." Love this book, loved it as a kid and read it last year with my daughter and loved it as an adult!
I've been re-reading all of my childhood favorites with my daughter in the last few years including Anne of Green Gables, A Wrinkle in Time, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Pippi Longstocking and it's been a few years now since Winnie-the-Pooh so I'm going to either read that or All Creatures Great and Small.
Anna wrote: "I plan to read A Wrinkle in Time and my alternate is Jane Eyre."Both excellent choices!
It took forever to think of a book but I reread The Giving Tree. One of the most polarizing children’s books. I liked it as a kid, and I still do. Of course I see why a lot of people don’t. But I do. First task done!
The first book that came to mind for me was Anne of Green Gables, but it's so fresh for me because I'm always revisiting some kind of Anne media. On the other hand, I don't think I've reread any Tamora Pierce novels as an adult, and I kind of think I'd like to revisit Alanna or Kel.
Audra wrote: "Absolutely reading From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler for this task!"That is the book that immediately came to mind for me as well!
ETA: I'm actually having a hard time remembering what books I enjoyed as a kid other than one now, LOL. But finally came up with a few more after looking at my bookshelves:
My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Emily wrote: "On the other hand, I don't think I've reread any Tamora Pierce novels as an adult, and I kind of think I'd like to revisit Alanna or Kel."I didn't actually read Tamora Pierce until I was an adult and both of her universes are so so good. I particularly love her Circle of Magic books done by Full Cast Audio.
I don't have a title in mind, but I'm thinking of revisiting my love of Paula Danzinger when I was a kid.
I started with the second task as I want to wait a bit more for new books by BIPOC authors. For the second task I am rereading Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson, an interesting middle grade book.
I went back and forth on this and saw the answer on my bookshelf. I loved reading Where the Sidewalk Ends as a kid, so I picked it up again for this prompt.
So tempted to do THE WESTING GAME by Ellen Raskin, but I went with my true love, the Betsy-Tacy series and read BETSY’S WEDDING by Maud Hart Lovelace.
I re-read Encyclopedia Brown and his Best Cases Ever by Donald Sobol - 4/12/25. The Encyclopedia Brown series was one of my favorites as a kid.
I read Pride and Prejudice by Jane AustenTechnically my childhood favorite was the Great Illustrated Classic version - Pride and Prejudice, but for this I read the full version.
I am seriously having trouble thinking of a book from my childhood to reread. Is a favorite book from my teenage years work as my 'childhood' if I'm in my 50s now? LOL
