Note: For this round, as you complete subjects, you will need to add the number of pencils you're using to each subject tab. Typically putting an x is ok, but because some subjects require more pencils, I changed the formula so it will correctly count your available pencils on the pencil tab. Head to the intro thread if you have questions.

message 6: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Hi all. I look forward to reading with you all!

message 7: by Fee (new)

Fee | 233 comments Good Morning and happy reading ☺️

message 8: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments I had surgery on Thursday so have a week off work. I should get more reading done than normal as I can’t do anything. But I’m still a bit sleepy.
I finished The Good Samaritan today - I had 110 pages left so it can count. I’m on my phone at the moment and can’t work out the spreadsheet from my phone. But it fits for
*character with teacher
*multiple points of view
*title states it’s a letter in EGOT

Hope you recover quickly. I've put your book down for multiple points of view for now and added it to the completed tab. As always, we can move stuff around later.

message 10: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I've added some books to the plans tab but I am not beholden to my TBR for the week. I had wanted to pick up my NetGalley of Lucy Undying but a lot of the reviews say it's slow so maybe not the best pick for a readathon!

message 11: by Ira (new)

Ira | 361 comments Hi team. So fun to read with you. I am currently reading Storm Watcher by Maria V. Snyder and Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I haven't thought about where they fit, but I am confident the fit somewhere.

message 12: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Thanks Ellie,

message 13: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments I'm at the beach this weekend and hoping to get in some good reading before the work week stars. I finished The Seven Year Slip and added for hobby since the MC taking back up watercolor painting in her free time is a big thing in the story.

Get well soon Bec, and enjoy the opportunity to relax and read!

message 15: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 559 comments I have spent some hours today listening to an audiobook while assembling my new outdoor seating, which was eventually successful! I have coded Cold Enough for Snow as a short book.

message 16: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments I binged my beach book. Hope everyone else had a good reading day!

message 17: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments I’m hoping I can get to my laptop later today to put in my plans. Finding the app frustrating! I’m currently reading If it makes you happy - fits for book with picture cover.

message 18: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Oh I’ve just realised picture cover must be individual challenge. I’ll work out where it fits later!

message 19: by Fee (new)

Fee | 233 comments I had a great first reading day which helped me to finish my first book this morning. The North Line. I put it under Science: A book involving nature.

Today I will be starting The Fox Wife.

message 20: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 559 comments I finished Beastly Things which is set in Venice, which counts as set on an island. I hadn't really thought of it that way until I read about the characters driving "over to the mainland", so googled it... It has been a glorious spring weekend here, perfect for listening to an audiobook while gardening, and reading the paper book while resting. We are off to a great start!

message 21: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I don't know where time disappears to at the weekends! I didn't read as much as I'd have liked yesterday, and I'm going out for Sunday lunch today, but I should have loads more time to read during the week.

Hoping to finish Perfectly Preventable Deaths later. It's not as fast paced as I expected.

message 22: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I've finished Perfectly Preventable Deaths. It's the slowest paced YA I've ever read and got super dark in places. I've put it down for young adult.

message 23: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Good morning team, hope everyone had a good weekend! I made some progress on my books yesterday but probably won't finish anymore until tomorrow.

message 24: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Today I finished If It Makes You Happy. Advantage of now being on sick leave. I could read quite a bit today!
It's got a tree on the cover - do you think this can count as plant on cover? If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia
or should I put it into with 5 or more words in title?

message 25: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 559 comments Bec wrote: "Today I finished If It Makes You Happy. Advantage of now being on sick leave. I could read quite a bit today!

A tree is definitely a plant! I would go with that one because fewer people have books with that prompt than the one with 5+ words

message 26: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments I listened to a short audiobook this morning, Into the Riverlands, and put it down for animal on cover. I found a kids book on my TBR, so I'll read that next (should be quick).

After that I'll go look for some STEM/sci-fi books since there aren't any on the plans tab yet. Does anyone have any poetry or plays they could read?

message 27: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Great. I’ve added it to plant on cover.

I will not be reading poetry or play. Not my thing at all!!

message 28: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments Kids book has been ticked off!

message 29: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments Hi everyone. I'm a bit late to the game here since this past week was a bit of an emotional mess and I forgot about the read-a-thon!

I do have a play I'm reading but I will probably finish some other ones before that one.

Currently on my phone, so I'll input some pages and make a plan later.

message 30: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments Plays are not my thing either but I need it for another challenge.

message 31: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 559 comments Just finished The Geometry of Holding Hands which I have coded as a title of 5 words or more, but it also works for EGOT if we need to switch around. Am also almost finished another audiobook, Ladies, We Need to Talk: Everything We're Not Saying About Bodies, Health, Sex & Relationships which has 2 authors. After than I will need to focus on my 850 page doorstop, Daniel Deronda which I am only half-way through.

Welcome to the team (and thanks for tackling the play for us!).

message 33: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments I've been reading all day and just finished Opal. It fits under a few categories. I can put it for weather event for now as it has a big flood that locks everyone into the rural town. But it also fits for set in southern hemisphere and title in EGOT.

message 34: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Work got me but hope to at least finish my audiobook tonight. Nice job on all the finishes and welcome Jessica!

message 35: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 572 comments Hey Team, I finally finished Deaf Utopia: A Memoir—And a Love Letter to a Way of Life.

I would like to add for the translated prompt. The preface explains how important it was to the author to tell his story in American Sign Language and have his friend translate it into American hearing English and explained some the differences in how the languages work (beyond the obvious). GR doesn't officially note a translator though in the metadata.

Let me know if anyone feels that it wouldn't work and I can change it.

message 36: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments I think since they are technically two different languages I would be fine with counting it. But maybe we should check with the moderators? Just to be sure.

I have queried this with Emily - fingers crossed! I think it definitely should be counted, and also the detail should be added to the GR posting

Fee | 233 comments My reading slowed down a bit the last two days. It’s the same every time I participate in a readathon. Midweek is always too busy. But I am pretty sure I will have more time to read from tomorrow evening on and will at least finish to more books. I am really enjoying the two books I’m currently reading.

Me too. Work is such a problem for reading.

message 41: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments Well it looks as though we are all really good at Recess, LOL!

I added two more books today. One is a children's book I was reading with my nephew. The other is a book I picked up today specifically for this challenge... Roller Girl, for a sports book.

message 42: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2999 comments JessicaMHR wrote: "Well it looks as though we are all really good at Recess, LOL!..."

Haha, understandable. I can't believe we're failing at art though!

For anyone who hasn't noticed our grades on the spreadsheet:
History D
Literature C
Math B
Science C
Geography C
Art F
Recess B

message 43: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments Haha we haven’t even turned up to art yet!!

Emily says yes!

message 45: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments I'm reading a play and also one that starts with EGOT so hopefully soon we raise our art grade.

message 46: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments Okay, so I just realized that my book that I'm reading for EGOT could maybe be used for a retelling.

It is Other Ever Afters: New Queer Fairy Tales, do you think this is considered a retelling? It has it listed as a retelling but it's like 10th down the list of genres.

message 47: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments It has retelling in genre so I think it counts Jessica.

message 48: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1342 comments I’m determined to finish a book today!

message 49: by JessicaMHR (new)

JessicaMHR | 313 comments Ok. I just finished it and am putting it as retelling.

message 50: by Ira (new)

Ira | 361 comments I finished reading Storm Watcher by Maria V. Snyder. I put it under A book containing a map or illustrations since it has some pictures of weather instruments in the end of the book. I hope to finish another book today or tomorrow.
