I nominate Vox by Christina Dalcher. A dystopian book that looks at what happens when women lose their voices as they are limited to 100 words a day
The Hate You Give is my pick Overview Starr Carter witnesses the shooting of her best friend by the police and finds herself caught between two worlds. The novel follows her journey as she learns to use her voice to stand up for justice.
I nominate 'All the truth that's in me'. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...A story about a girl who is kidnapped and after several years makes her way back to her home. She has lost the ability to speak due to her tongue being partially removed.
I Nominate Archer's Voice as it has voice in the title and from the book description= " It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice.'
I nominate Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson - a book about a young woman who stops talking after a devastating incident and needs to find her voice again.
Emily wrote: "I nominate 'All the truth that's in me'. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...All the Truth That's in Me
This appears to be a better link for Emily's suggestion as it includes a blurb, shelves, author, award nominations, etc. Also, I'll second it.
I nominate Bel Canto - the voice and singing ability of the main female character are a major feature in the book
I nominate The Voice That Challenged a Nation: Marian Anderson and the Struggle for Equal Rights. This is all about voice on two different levels-- it's about how she became one of the top opera singers of the 20th century (the first American black woman to do so) and also how she spoke against segregation and racism.
I nominate I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - connection is in the title (voice and singing and using your voice to communicate while locked in)
As a last minute entry I will nominate To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo. The connection is that it is a popular Little Mermaid retelling/adaptation, in this case the MC loses her song.(I tried to do research and I think this is readily available)
I nominate Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. Jane Austen has been a voice that has inspired countless other authors. I feel like Northanger Abbey fits November, and I haven’t read it this year.

Time to nominate books for November! The theme is Voice.
~Please remember to state a connection to the theme when you nominate.
~Books we have read less than three years ago are not eligble. To see which books are not eligble, see this google sheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
~ Each person can nominate 1 book.
~ Book must be available both as a physical copy and as an ebook.
~ Authors: Please do not nominate your own book.
~ Please do not nominate books that are part of a series, unless it is the first book.
~ You can second someone else's nomination, but that will count as your nomination.
This thread will be closed by September 25th, and we will choose ten books for the poll. If there are more than ten books nominated, we will choose "seconded" books first. If there is still a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go back to the Goodreads average rating to see which is highest.
