Trike | 11281 comments It never rains but it pours. I now have a NEW new dog. And just in case anyone doubted it, this proves I am officially insane, because she's a puppy. 14 weeks old. She and GoGo are trying to work out who owns me.

Introducing Wabash, a Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog mix.

As you can see, she's nearly the same size as GoGo already:

I post photos and videos on my Instagram account if you want to see more: https://www.instagram.com/trike117/

Cute dogs. Please remember that while the images resize for the browser, huge images really mess up those of us with a daily digest (it turns the rest of the posts' font so tiny it becomes unreadable.) You can either resize photos before posting them or add a little code like width="400" before posting. Please and thanks!

Trike | 11281 comments Jeez, kids today with their apps and pants around their knees and the rock-and-roll music.

Trike | 11281 comments New dog time.

Mrs. Trike has long desired a French Bulldog and our pals at Methuen MSPCA had a stray come in. He’d been attacked by an animal or human, resulting in numerous injuries, including losing an eye.

So we’re calling him Odin. Unfortunately it looks like he might lose the other eye. If that’s the case we’ll change it to Geordi. I’m hoping we can save the eye. Don’t need another blind dog.

He’s just about the same size as GoGo. He’s besotted with Boo. Wabash is annoyed that there’s yet another dog here.

Joseph | 2433 comments I just got some new kitties!

https://thecafemeow.com/blog/callie-a...

And their names are now Signy (the one in back with the blep) and Mallory (the one in front), after Captain Signy Mallory of the Company Ship Norway from C.J. Cherryh's Downbelow Station, my favorite SF book of all time.

(I probably should have named them Hilfy and Pyanfar, from Cherryh's The Pride of Chanur, but decided to be kind to the vet techs who'd eventually have to try to pronounce their names.)

Cute! Solid nerd names, too.

That’s considerate of you. Also saves on headaches.

No one around here can pronounce Wabash, usually going with “weh-bosh”. Like… what? Local names like Amoskeag, Contoocook, Monadnock and Kancamagus are easy-peasy but Wabash breaks your brain? 😆 There are even like 3 famous songs that have Wabash in them.

Yeah, my previous guys were Jin and Mugen (after Samurai Champloo), and Jin didn't give them too much trouble, but Mugen (MOO-gen, with G as in Get) gave them fits and starts sometimes.

I think we have talked before, but my mailing address is in the city of Waupaca. And my workplace is in the town of Waunakee. And one of my best friends grandpa lived in the northern town of Wabeno. So your pup would fit in just fine here in Wisconsin. Funny enough the original spelling of Wisconsin was Ouisconsin, based on the French pronunciation of it.

My rescue kitty is a sweet calico named Gemma, after the character in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5213 comments When "Abby" turned out to be not near as female as the people who gave the cat to us thought, we pondered on the very sharp claws and came up with "Logan."

Then there's "Luna," a fairly ditzy longhair who answers to the full name "Luna Lovecat." Well, she doesn't answer at all actually, but put down a plate of food and she'll be by. More "bop your hand" affectionate than "sit and purr," and a little coltish in movements, which is why we appended the "Lovecat" to the original space-inspired name.

Trike | 11281 comments The right name is very important.

Valerie | 63 comments Merry and Pippin is always a good combo, but I have a golden retriever named Bombadil so you know which way my tastes run.

Jennifer | 236 comments I have only one cat right now. We call him Rocket, well actually we call him Dude-lee and other odd names, rarely do we break out Rocket.

I feel like fantasy/sci fi brings great names. When I worked at the vet clinic we had a cat named Polgara come in. I was thrilled. The owner however didn't seem to want to talk about this.

My friend’s dog is named Kili.

Oaken | 424 comments My wife named her dachshund Tyrion. I assume because what he does is he eats and he knows things. Or maybe its his size.

Dana Van Pelt (danalv) | 39 comments We have three cats. The oldest ones were adopted from the local animal foundation and are named Winston and Churchill. Our third kitty was found in my Husband’s workplace parking lot. His name is a Teddy Bear after Teddy Roosevelt. They are truly the light of our lives.

Valerie | 63 comments Fili and Kili would also be adorable piggie names!
