We have been in a situation where our minds go blank and we don't know what to write. But what do you do when you have writer's block? How do you get rid of it and should you get rid of it? 🧐
Here are some tips :)
1. Continue writing. Just get it out!✍️ See it like you are an archaeologist, digging a hole to find a treasure. But to get there you need to get through the dirt first. You get through the dirt by not being afraid to write what you think is bad writing, or you get through the dirt by feeling uncomfortable with writing something you don't like but do it anyway! It's your definition that it is not good enough. You just need to continue digging, until your hands feel something in the dirt, something small a jewel, more jewels, and maybe sparkling diamonds. Eventually, there is a good chance that you will write something you like and want to keep it. If you keep digging, continue showing up, and taking your time, your spade has a good chance to hit something hard: a treasure chest maybe? The further you get with your story, slow or fast, you keep hitting against the treasure chest. You dig with your hands, brush the dirt aside, you begin to see what it looks like. You struggle to take it up from the hole, or it might be easy for you.
Either way, eventually you open the pressure chest, and inside is your book! ✨💎✨
2. Or start writing something new, by looking for a new treasure for the time being and may later come back to the old one. This new treasure includes something you normally would never write. The more you are out of your comfort zone the better. This trains your brain to be more flexible and generate new styles of writing. It could be for instance: A sci-fi book about pirates dominating space, a gothic love story, a children's story, a song, or a short story written in the second person.
You might be surprised what you will find when you try writing something new. ✨💎✨
Good luck! Comment below if there is a project you are working on, or if you have any questions or thoughts💗📚
