This is a 2-book task based on common task challenges. Pick an option and read a book for each category in that option. You may read one book that is 500+ pages if it fits both categories of your chosen option.
REQUIRED: state the option you have chosen

I have found that challenge tasks seem to be categorized into 3 main types with variations within. Each option deals with two variations of one of these main types.

Option 1 – Using a phrase to spell title words or contain author initials, letters can only be used as often as they appear
Category 1 – Be sure to check those uncommon words because they have often surprised me by fitting in a challenge like this. Read a book with at least a four letter word in the title or subtitle that can be spelled from the phrase TITLE WORD SPELLED FROM PHRASE. (Apostrophe's can be ignored)
REQUIRED: State the word
Category 2 – One of the easiest challenges for me to complete since I read a wide range of books and work in a library. I can usually just go to the shelves and scan for a book that fits that I wouldn’t mind reading. Read a book with all author initials, middle initials count if the author has one, in the phrase AUTHOR INITIALS CONTAINED IN PHRASE

Option 2 – Finding items or colors on the cover
Category 1 – I remember my mother constantly trying to get me to wear colors other than black during my teen years. It’s not that I didn’t like color, I just wasn’t very fashionable and black goes with everything. Read a book with at least 6 different colors on the cover according to TinEye. A guide to using TinEye can be found here
Category 2 – While I am not very talented and have only taken lessons sporadically, I like to play the piano and can play simple tunes on my recorder and dulcimer. Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover.
REQUIRED: Post the cover

Option 3 – Choosing a book from genres or lists
Category 1 – Based on probably my most read genre (many books I read in other genres also have a subtext of romance), read a book with a MPG of Romance, genre may be embedded such as Historical Romance
Category 2 – Mysteries is my first love in books. Over the years, I have discovered that some of the best come from Scandinavian countries. Read a book from one of these lists
REQUIRED: state the list and page where your book was found
Nordic Scandinavian Mysteries Female
Scandinavian Nordic Mysteries
Murder Most Cold

Those books work for those categories.

However, be aware that the task requires you to read both categories from the SAME OPTION. The first book would fit into Option 3/Category 1 so could both be used to fulfill this task.

For a side note, Camilla Lackberg is one of my favorite Scandinavian authors.

Could you explain this a bit more to me? However, be aware that the task requires you to read both categories from the SAME OPTION. The first book would fit into Option 3/Category 1 so could both be used to fulfill this task.

Sorry if I sound stupid, I'm tired from not enough sleep (my sleep pattern is mucked up with current medication) x

If you are reading the specific edition you linked it will work. When I checked the cover you have linked on Tineye, I found more than six colors listed. But there were editions where it wouldn't reach the page requirement for a 1 book option.

Actuallly, now that I look again, you could use both those books for either option, but this is how you would have to do it:

Pick Option 1, then your books would fit like this:
Cat 1 - That Girl From Nowhere, using FROM in the title
Cat 2 - The Ice Princess, using initials CL which are in the phrase

Or, pick Option 3, then your books would fit like this:
Cat 1 - That Girl From Nowhere, using MPG Romance
Cat 2 - The Ice Princess, using pg 1 of the list

Robin P | 1687 comments Can I use for Option 1, the one-book option

The Last Cavalier: Being the Adventures of Count Sainte-Hermine in the Age of Napoleon - Alexandre Dumas, where LAST is found in the 1st phrase, initials AD are found in the 2nd phrase and the book is 752 pages?

e.g., Moyer, Jaime Lee. Delia's shadow

I am willing to accept that.

I will see if the mods want to adjust the task to say that apostrophes do not count as a letter, or if is still fine as it is

Kathy KS | 2430 comments Another. This time for Option 2, category 2. Would a church bell be counted as a musical instrument? I know there have been competitions over the years in some places.
The Body in the Belfry (Faith Fairchild #1) by Katherine Hall Page

I did just rewatch a British mystery where a bell competition was a major component.

My initial instinct is to say no, because I think that it takes a group of bells to actually produce music out of them. But I want to check with the mods because of the way the task is worded.

After talking to the moderators, and not wanting to make the task harder to moderate, the church bell is accepted as a musical instrument. The task does not require the entire instrument to be on the cover, and I am going to assume that it could be part of a bell competition.

Yes, that works.

C | 370 comments For option 2, category 2, does the shadow of a musical instrument work? I'm specifically looking at:
Drowned at the Rat (Press Pass Mysteries #2) by April Anderton

That looks acceptable to me. It is obviously a guitar and the task does not specify real versus a picture of the instrument.
