Krystal wrote: "Arrgh it bothers me so much when I notice those ones, but to have to deal with so many Carolyn sounds very painful!"All done now! Removed 400 (all really old adds) and added another 300 back to my tbr shelf. That's it! I don't think I have any energy left to deal with any more glitches!
Happy New Year!!I just wanted to share that Pan Mac AU has started a group on GR and are offering 35% off on January's selections. If you're interested, I've dropped the link below :)

A cautionary tale. After fighting the symptoms for 52 hours I finally called the ambulance at 2AM Fri. They arrived in a remarkable short time, without siren waking the whole street (much praise to them) and though I had several hours wait at ED, I was seen to by the amazing staff in "Acute" and after saline drip, blood tests and azithromycin kicking in, I was on my way home. Recovering well, if the brain is still in the slow lane. If that's what salmonella does to you I would hate to try ciguatera.
Stay safe people.

Good to hear you are back home and recovering Alex. Praying for complete healing for you.
Brenda wrote: "Goodness Alex! I'm glad you're recovering! Very nasty."Maybe I needed a kick up the backside - but other causes of the symptoms were far worse. Won't be re-heating chicken in the future.

I was getting worse at that stage.

Chicken is something to be wary of - if in doubt, don't - is my motto with chicken! Take good care, and as others have said, lots of fluid and rest!

Just got a notice in my letterbox that they'll be filming Jane Harper's The Survivors in my street this Friday! Have more reason than ever to read my copy of this book now Haha

Wow! What’s your general location? Tassie I think. I didn’t think it was her best, but she’s always readable and I’d definitely watch it on screen.
Helen wrote: "How exciting, good idea to start reading"Absolutely, Helen! Best reason to start reading.

Yes, Andrea, I'm in Tassie. The letter says it will be a six-part drama series. It also says they will be filming on location in and around Hobart from mid-January until late March. They will apparently return to my street again in February and March.
No word on the cast though - so I might have to go on a walk (or two) Haha
Rowan wrote: "No word on the cast though - so I might have to go on a walk (or two) Haha..."Well, if you do, make sure to report back! It's always interesting to see the casting choices when you've already got a picture in your head from reading the book.

You never know, they might need some extras to make the street look busy Rowan!

Absolutely, Andrea! I particularly enjoyed The Dry adaptation, so curious who they have cast for this.
Carolyn wrote: "You never know, they might need some extras to make the street look busy Rowan!"
I'll go see if they do, Carolyn!
You reminded me to book my tickets to see Force of Nature at the cinema on Saturday! Eric Bana stars in that one.

Thanks Brenda. People here in Townsville are as prepared as we can be: now a waiting game. Airport closes at noon.

Absolutely, Brenda. Good to have something exciting happening in the street - especially something positive like this!
Stay cool up there in that heat!
Thanks Rowan - the air con is doing its job! I hope you can be a part of the filming - as an extra, or even a photo bomb ;)

So glad you have air con. We are blessed that way too even if temps are not as high as yours. The blessings of the South Coast.

Our daughter and her partner are in Townsville. Apparently it's getting wetter and windier for some reason...🤷♀️

That's so exciting, Rowan! As Andrea said, make sure to report in with any juicy tidbits you discover!!
Townsville here. Power restored to 80,000 households after a shade under 42 hrs. Thanks God for **GAS** to cook with / boil a cuppa in a saucepan, and **PETROL** generator, used sparingly to avoid overheating. I defy greenies and teals to take the 42 hrs w/o power test.Minimal damage and we didn't lose sewerage.
So glad all is well for you Alex. That's a LOT of power loss, thank goodness for your backup plans! 42 hours to restore is pretty good for that many homes too...

Thank you ladies. Last word on the subject (I promise) is that the last time Townsville had a touch-up was TC Yasi in Feb 2011. I seem to recall outages of 10-20 hrs as we were at the southern edge of it, and had that in mind this time around. While we were better prepared than many, after 24 hrs there are breakages and malfunctions, things go missing hence the best laid plans, yardi yardi. Discovered we have a heap of obsolete stuff that needs to be tossed and replaced but we should be better prepared the next time around. Provided it's not next week.
Stay safe everyone

Weren't you involved with Cyclone Debbie Alex? Yasi was a terrible one, but hubby and I were caught out with Debbie.

We're looking for confirmations to our latest Sydney get together, from those of you who haven't yet, if you wouldn't mind :) Less than two weeks now!

Brenda wrote: "Thanks Kylie. Yes, I'll do that :)"That's so sad to hear. I went to a book launch in Canberra a few years ago where she was a guest.
I enjoyed reading her The Golden Dress in the 1990s, which was shortlisted at that time for the Miles Franklin.
She was a member of a group of women writers based in Canberra, who regularly met at Tilleys https://tilleys.com.au/history/ in Lyneham in the 1980/90's.
