All done now! Removed 400 (all really old adds) and added another 300 back to my tbr shelf. That's it! I don't think I have any energy left to deal with any more glitches!

Alex Cantone | 994 comments A cautionary tale. After fighting the symptoms for 52 hours I finally called the ambulance at 2AM Fri. They arrived in a remarkable short time, without siren waking the whole street (much praise to them) and though I had several hours wait at ED, I was seen to by the amazing staff in "Acute" and after saline drip, blood tests and azithromycin kicking in, I was on my way home.

Recovering well, if the brain is still in the slow lane. If that's what salmonella does to you I would hate to try ciguatera.

Stay safe people.

A scary incident. Glad you didn’t leave it later to call for help. Praise our ambos.
Good to hear you are back home and recovering Alex. Praying for complete healing for you.

Maybe I needed a kick up the backside - but other causes of the symptoms were far worse. Won't be re-heating chicken in the future.

Thanks Dale. Should have called the ambulance earlier but 'a bug' usually only lasts a day or two. I was getting worse at that stage.

It's a good thing you didn't wait any longer to go to hospital Alex. I hope you start to feel better soon - lots of rest and fluids (and a few books) should help.

Chicken is something to be wary of - if in doubt, don't - is my motto with chicken! Take good care, and as others have said, lots of fluid and rest!

Yes, Andrea, I'm in Tassie. The letter says it will be a six-part drama series. It also says they will be filming on location in and around Hobart from mid-January until late March. They will apparently return to my street again in February and March.

No word on the cast though - so I might have to go on a walk (or two) Haha

Alex Cantone | 994 comments Townsville here. Power restored to 80,000 households after a shade under 42 hrs. Thanks God for **GAS** to cook with / boil a cuppa in a saucepan, and **PETROL** generator, used sparingly to avoid overheating. I defy greenies and teals to take the 42 hrs w/o power test.

Minimal damage and we didn't lose sewerage.

Alex Cantone | 994 comments Thank you ladies. Last word on the subject (I promise) is that the last time Townsville had a touch-up was TC Yasi in Feb 2011. I seem to recall outages of 10-20 hrs as we were at the southern edge of it, and had that in mind this time around.

While we were better prepared than many, after 24 hrs there are breakages and malfunctions, things go missing hence the best laid plans, yardi yardi. Discovered we have a heap of obsolete stuff that needs to be tossed and replaced but we should be better prepared the next time around. Provided it's not next week.

Stay safe everyone

That's so sad to hear. I went to a book launch in Canberra a few years ago where she was a guest.
I enjoyed reading her The Golden Dress in the 1990s, which was shortlisted at that time for the Miles Franklin.
She was a member of a group of women writers based in Canberra, who regularly met at Tilleys https://tilleys.com.au/history/ in Lyneham in the 1980/90's.
