Alison | 20 comments I listened to Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, read by Meryl Streep, and absolutely loved it. It is set during one of the Covid lockdown periods. Three daughters in their twenties have returned home to help their parents harvest the cherry farm. During breaks, their mother recounts the story of her own life as a promising actress. Meryl Streep gives each character their own voice so you feel you are right there as the story unfolds. I have found a new favorite author and book.

It’s epistolary, written from the pov of one of the scientists who explores the mountain. It was really good, I definitely recommend it if you like speculative sci-fi/horror.
