The House Across The River by Riley Sager. Lots of plot twist , really good

I would say anything by Grady Hendrix. Some people love the books, some people hate them but they’re pretty easy to follow and are simple reads for horror beginners!!

joyland by stephen king is easy to read for someone who’s new to horror, same goes with carrie by the same author <3
