Hannah | 3371 comments This book tells of how three people are brought together following a car accident during a storm in New York. As the book goes on, it becomes evident that each of the three main characters are running from things in their past, and it is interesting to see how their stories unfold. You do have to suspend your disbelief at some of the choices the characters make throughout, and their stories really made me care for each of the individuals, and want everything to work out well for them. The book also clearly showed how difficult the life is for undocumented immigrants in the US.

Susan Lewallen (susanlewallen) | 804 comments Nice review, Hannah, I also gave this 4 stars. Good example of Allende's magical realism and the way she often breaks the "rules" of fiction writing (I'm thinking of "show don't tell") and gets away with it because she is such a good story teller.
