James is supposed be one of Percival Everett's best books--and many are good I understand. Enjoy!

Nice job on the pre-readathon goal! I'm curious what you think of Trespasses, North Woods, James, Birnam Wood. I'm reading Birnam Wood during the readathon too!

Kate | 675 comments That's a nice mix in your TBR. Always love an Agatha Christie and Alice in Wonderland is a great choice. Enjoy your readathon.

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Hours 1 - 6

Love Medicine - 49 pgs
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass - 76 pgs
Parrot and Olivier in America - 56 pgs (audio)

Total pages so far: 181

I will calculate hours at the end. I had some distractions the last few hours, so I'm going to put my head down this afternoon and try to, as my sister always texts me before a readathon - "read like the wind!" Haha. Thanks to all who have stopped by. I'll try to visit more later!

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Hours 7 - 12

Parrot and Olivier in America - 6 pgs (audio)
Trespasses - 69 pgs
Birnam Wood - 97 pgs

Running total, pages: 353

At this rate, I may not finish even one book! But that's ok - I'm having fun jumping around. Off to do some exercise and get the blood flowing for the evening session!

Good luck for the remaining hours!

message 164: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Hours 13 - 18

Parrot and Olivier in America - 34 pgs (audio)
Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen - 29 pgs (audio)
Trespasses - 47 pgs

Running total, pages: 463

I may have to doze for a bit. Putting on an audiobook and we'll see what happens...

message 165: by Lamilla (new)

Lamilla | 868 comments I'm also listening to an audiobook at the moment, Ann! Have a good nap

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Hours 19 - 24

Love Medicine - 11 pgs
Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen - 31 pgs

Final total, pages: 505
Final total, hours: 10 hr 34 min (6 hr 30 min reading, 4 hr 4 min audio)

Here's what I read:

Love Medicine - 60 pgs
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass - 76 pgs
Trespasses - 116 pgs
Birnam Wood - 97 pgs
Parrot and Olivier in America - 96 pgs (audio)
Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen - 60 pgs (audio)

I didn't finish a single book, but that gives me an excuse to keep reading! I'm enjoying all the books, but Birnam Wood is my favorite so far. I got a bit headachey late last night and had to sleep for 5 hours, but I did make it back for the last hour.

As usual, it was great reading with you all. Hope everyone had a fantastic readathon. Let's do it again in April!

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments It's that time again - yay! I'm happy to see so many excited fellow readers here. I'm also excited, although I do have to attend a fund raiser/concert Saturday night. Boo. I'll be buried in the pages as much as possible. Here's the "readathon/next up" stack. I always "try" to start fresh with no books in progress, and this time I managed it.

With No One as Witness (also on audio)
The Book Censor's Library
Go Down, Moses (1001 list)
The First State of Being (2025 Newbery winner)
Let the Great World Spin (also on audio)
The Body: A Guide for Occupants (nonfiction)
My Friends
Blankets - (Banned Book - graphic)
Martyr!
The Wedding People

I tend to average around 500 pages during a readathon, but I like to have lots to pick from. Haha. I was a little more intentional with my stack this time, hence the random-number-generated book from the 1001 list, the most recent Newbery winner - April readathon only, one nonfiction, and one Banned Book.

Can't wait to get started in 32 hours, 22 minutes!

The Body sounds so interesting! I normally don't read non fiction and tend to miss the existence of such good titles.

Bill Bryson is one of my favorite authors. He's always interesting, but also funny!

message 176: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathepsut) | 660 comments I agree on Bryson. His Notes from a Small Island was probably one of the funniest books I ever read…

I've read Blankets but it's been a few years ago. It was enjoyable! I hope you enjoy it too!

Looks like you made some good choices with your TBR as several of us have read some of your choices and liked them 🥰

Hope you have a great weekend and HAPPY READING to you!!

The Wedding People - 45 pgs
The Book Censor's Library - 75 pgs
With No One as Witness - 19 pgs
Let the Great World Spin - 20 pgs (audio

Running total, pages: 159

I'll calculate hours at the end. I spent 30 min. listening to the audio of With No One as Witness, then realized it was abridged. Ugh (I don't do abridged.) Luckily, I also have a print copy, so I switched to that. I will be missing the next 6-hour update because I have to go out for the evening. I'll report in again at midnight my time (end of Hour 18).

Hope everyone is having a fabulous readathon so far. As usual, the time is going way too fast!

Too fast. I settle myself and almost half gone.. . . I usually read on anyway and into next week during our Cooldown Week, so I get a Dewey's fix.. . . If it works for you, join in.

message 193: by Vicki Willis (new)

With No One as Witness - 14 pgs
The First State of Being - 39 pgs

Running total, pages: 428

I was out for 4 hours, but did an hour-long sprint after I got home and am going to try to stay awake for a bit longer (it's 12:15 a.m.) I'll probably doze some, but then try to get up for the last hour.

message 198: by Susan (new)

Susan | 988 comments What an interesting mix of books! I’m intrigued by The Book Censor’s Library in particular — seems all too timely. Would you recommend? Enjoy the rest of the Readathon!

message 199: by Ann A (new)

Ann A (readerann) | 909 comments Final Wrap-Up

Here's what I read. I'm happy with all my choices!

The Book Censor's Library - 261 pgs, finished
With No One as Witness - 33 pgs
The First State of Being - 45 pgs
The Wedding People - 72 pgs
Let the Great World Spin - 65 pgs (audio)

Total pages: 476
Total hours: 8 hr 27 min (6 hr 13 min reading, 2 hr 14 min audio)

My results are about the best I could hope for, given that I had an evening commitment. I had a great time and hope everyone else did, too!
