Team Coast Busters - Chat! ✔
This weeks strategy!Since the spell-out is long and the Detour lists kind of "ick"... I would say let's focus on the spell-out and detour, and let books that just don't work try to fit Route Info or Switchback.
Also, U-Turn and Yield are back in play, so I added those options to the SS for easy viewing. We can only do one at a time, so if you have a book that works and wants to claim it, let the team know and go for it!
Also, I know I sound like a broken record, but we have over 60 banked books that need to be reviewed. We could literally NOT read this week and only review! Please, if you have books on the list, add a short review so we can use them!
I keep getting confused about this, because I've seen multiple things now, maybe ask Alaina to clarify
For spell outs, you can use the first letter of the first word in the title or series title, and then the first letter of the author's first or last name. Any edition counts for the book title/series title.
Middle initial for authors is also acceptable.

I have it reviewed...did you want me to use it for route info?
Amanda wrote: "I have it reviewed...did you want me to use it for route info?"I would say yes, I don't think it works for the current spell out, unless we were to start another.
Sorry I’ve been quiet lately. Been a bit overwhelmed with life. 😂. I need to update the spreadsheet with what I’ve read lately and see where I can fit it. Did we decide on a detour list ?
CeliaI added Review links to 2 of the books you had on the Banked Tab. Do you want me to find a place for them this week or are you working on it?
Also, a heads up! We need a V for the spell out, so keep a look out! I don't have one at them moment, and I didn't get the reading I wanted to get done this weekend (headache), so I may not have time to find one, unless I get lucky. Will still keep an eye out. However, Vicki! You have a book on the banked tab that would fit: The Vernon Case or The Ballad of Black Tom (author)

thanks posted
Ashley, I will do my reviews sometime today for those 2 books. I will let you know when I am done and let you place them where needed. Only because I am in Oceanside (about 420 miles from my home and next door to San Diego), and my granddaughter Madilyn is going to be here with her 2 children ANY minute and she’s staying the whole day while her husband goes to the base for his work. He is a marine and they are being transferred to Hawaii in September for 2 years so I want to spend the time she’s here with her.
Ashley wrote: "VickiI moved the books you didn't review and post on week 9 to the banked tab."
Just saw this, so hank you so much! Promise I'll get to them!
Needed for Spell Out: claim if you have something!
S (x2)
E
I will hopefully finish an S book before Friday, but I haven't moved it there just in case!
Amanda wrote: "I have 2 x s that I can do"I put your name next to them, but if you tell me the titles, I'll add those
Raquel wrote: "I started adding reviews to all of my banked books and I will continue here in a bit."Awesome Raquel! I'll move them around as I can! Feel free to grab any tasks if you know your book fits one! :)
VickiI added your buddy read link for "Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon", but you haven't reviewed it, so I didn't post it yet. :)
I added Blindsighted, but we can't use When All is Said, for S, it has to be the first letter of the first title/series title word or author FLN.
I'm posting links to my reviews in the spreadsheet. Feel free to move them around as we need them.I also started reading a book that works for E, but again feel free to move it if we need it somewhere else.
We need 3 for Detour at the moment (Jenny did 2 books so far, but nothing else is listed). We have the S left for the Spellout (I may get my book done, but it also works for Route Info, so I'm not claiming it in case I don't get it finished).

okay! just checking. I didn't claim anything this round just in case, but i've been reading for detour, and I have something that will work for S if need be.
just need to review things and get the links up.
Ashley wrote: "Sounds good Kade! Let me know if you need help with anything. :)"ill probably post review links here / spreadsheet if someone can post in the review spot for me!
and i may have a few that ill see if someone wants to help fit into a route prompt lol.
i will say i struggled with the detour books. definitely not my go-to tropes / types of books ;x
Kade, I looked through EVERY page of that list and it was AWFUL. I was going to read the Song of Achilles, but it's on at least a 3 week hold from the library, so I knew I wouldn't get it.
If no one else reads a bronze age book, and I've already posted, can we just change what it works for? Hopefully it works for something else.
Jenny, I would just hold off posting your detour books until we know for sure Friday. Both of yours will work for Route Info, and you linked the reviews, so any of us can post late Friday for whichever is needed.
Ashley, I added all of the books you PM'd me about to the SS and posted them in the review thread. Thanks, again! :)

This can be completed by at least two people from a team (one person cannot complete this task). The culture of Kenya comprises multiple traditions. Kenya has no single prominent culture. It instead consists of the various cultures of the country's different communities.
Notable populations include the Swahili on the coast, several other Bantu communities in the central and western regions, and Nilotic communities in the northwest. The Maasai culture is well known to tourism, despite constituting a relatively small part of Kenya's population. They are renowned for their elaborate upper-body adornment and jewellery.

Roadblocks begin at line #225 on the spreadsheet tab. There’s about 6 spell-outs available - please let me know if you need more.

By yielding, you will be taking away 20 bonus points from that team. The "Big Five" game animals of Africa, that is the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhinoceros, and elephant, can be found in Kenya and in the Masai Mara in particular. A significant population of other wild animals, reptiles, and birds can be found in the national parks and game reserves in the country. The annual animal migration occurs between June and September, with millions of animals taking part, attracting valuable foreign tourism. Two million wildebeest migrate a distance of 2,900 kilometres (1,802 mi) from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya, in a constant clockwise fashion, searching for food and water supplies. This Serengeti Migration of the wildebeest is listed among the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. If you want to use your yield this week - please read for the following:Read a book that contains all of the 'Big Five' game animals and has the words 'WILDEBEEST' and 'MIGRATION' found in text (pg/% & quote)
Intersections: This will be a buddy read related task. Meaning you will have to work with someone new (whether on your team or another) and read a book together. The buddy can also be someone in the group but not participating in the challenge. You will need to have at least 4-5 comments per buddy read.Read a book with someone new within the group. BOTM can also count for this task. This can be repeatable.
U-Turns: Just like the yield task, each team will have up to 3 U-turn opportunities (once per month). After the task has been revealed and read for, the team will then decide who to use their 'U-turn' against. By forcing another team into a U-turn, you will be taking away 10 bonus points from that team.Mount Kilimanjaro (/ˌkɪlɪmənˈdʒɑːroʊ/) is a dormant volcano located in Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania. I can probably read at least two from the list
I'm saving my elephant book until next week if someone else can take the E this week :)
It would have worked for Yield but there's no "migration" in text, so I think it only works for two or more animals on cover. So do you want me to post this week for the E or next week for the animals on cover?
