As far as the 2nd round, it's just for us. I was surprised when I did my first Readathon that there was no announcement afterwards of which team finished first, read the most books, or anything else. The main purpose is to get us to read and finish some of the books we've been meaning to get to.

Chrissie, if we move Daisy Darker to "important financial event" then we'll have finished our first money goal! We're actually just 1 or 2 away for each category which is excellent progress, go team :)
lets do it! book starts out with a reading of a will where everyone is surprised by who gets what. I say it counts.
Just finished Desolation Canyon and am not sure it fits many of the prompts. There were deaths. And a minor character was killing people he thought were aliens, so mental illness.
I finished 12 Tiny Things for self-help. I've started Signs For Home but I don't think there's a category left where I can put it. I'm just reading for pages now.
I finished Love & Saffron: A Novel of Friendship, Food, and Love (a super quick book) and put it under Food on Cover, which completed the Health tab.
I finally finished my first book. I've started three this week. I will complete all of them. I swear.
Just finished Private Gold for a facebook reading group. I put it in the 2nd rich person slot since it did not fit any of the other open ones. I am finishing The Mystery of the Fire Dragon and starting Peach Cobbler Murder sometime tonight.
Shelley wrote: "I finally finished my first book. I've started three this week. I will complete all of them. I swear."ooh I feel you on this one, I've started way too many books this week and somehow this week that I thought I was going to have so much free time has been suddenly full of nonsense that takes so much time!
finished The Upside of Unrequited which was for a PopSugar prompt. I don't usually read YA but this was cute. and my kid liked it. always looking for things to share with the kid.
I read The Tower, the Zoo, and the Tortoise and put it under the 2nd round of Book set in a workplace.
Well Popisho is taking me forever to get through - I'm not loving it tbh, but I try to read all the Women's Prize nominees every year, so trying to get through it. Hoping I can get this and at least one other book done before the readathon ends.I see we are still missing changing careers and books about reading/writing and music. Anyone close to finishing for these prompts? If not, I might try to have my next read fit one of them.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through For the Love of Books: Stories of Literary Lives, Banned Books, Author Feuds, Extraordinary Characters, and More, so I may be done by the end of the day. Also almost through listening to Still Life which involves music.
But if someone else finishes either category above, my two books fit other categories.

Ooh, I loved Still Life. I heard the author speak last month and she was wonderful.

Robin P wrote: "Kathy wrote: "I'm about 2/3 of the way through For the Love of Books: Stories of Literary Lives, Banned Books, Author Feuds, Extraordinary Characters, and More, so I may be done by ..."That's cool, Robin. I liked the book too. I especially liked all the conversations the characters had. I felt like I knew them.
I finished The Reading List a couple days ago but wasn't sure where to put it. I have now put it under books about reading/writing
For the changing of careers, do they have to do it in the novel currently or can the character speak of having changed careers in the past? I finsihed Valleys, Vehicles & Victims and she talks about going from airline stewardess to socialite to owner of a camp ground. It does work for camping but wanted to finish off the other. I also finished The Mystery of the Fire Dragon which I put as a second on Family conflict. Hoping to finish Peach Cobbler Murder either this evening or tomorrow.
I finished For the Love of Books: Stories of Literary Lives, Banned Books, Author Feuds, Extraordinary Characters, and More and put it for changing careers. It can be moved to a different spot if needed.
Sophia wrote: "My vote is that if it's relevant to plot then it should count but that's just my two cents."
I agree.
I agree.
Finished Dark Roads, Main Character runs away in lives in the woods so I'd count that as camping/hiking. :)
I finished Slippery Creatures and put it under Reading/Writing - main character owns a bookshop and there is a mystery about something written that needs to be found.
Now reading A Woman Is No Man which can work for large family
Now reading A Woman Is No Man which can work for large family
I'm listening to Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe which works for a lot of prompts. I'll probably finish this tomorrow. Also reading 1,001 Ways to Be Creative: A Little Book of Everyday Inspiration, which I'd call self help.
Finally, I'm reading My Friend Maigret. Not sure what it fits yet.
I finished The Sign for Home tonight and started Between Shades of Gray. I updated the Bookmarks page counter.
Finished The Binding Room which was a fairly messed up murder mystery. Put it for character with a mental illness because yeah.
Finished Super Fake Love Song and added it under music. I'm seeing some overlap in categories so I'm going to try and clean up the spreadsheet a bit - we've finished SO many books that I think we've finished more challenges than we have marked.
Okay, spreadsheet has been updated! It looks like we're 6 books away from finishing a 2nd set of every challenge, which is really amazing - also, we read a LOT of books with births/deaths. :D (Also I'm a little cross-eyed from staring at it for so long so if something's listed wrong, I'm sorry and please don't hesitate to change it!)
That's great, Sophia! I just finished Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe and added it to the spreadsheet Completed Tab for "character too young to work." I marked it under the Career Tab also. We've finished that category twice now. Bookmarks can be added to that one - I didn't do it.
Sophia wrote: "Okay, spreadsheet has been updated! Wow! Great job! I put Valleys, Vehicles & Victims on death since it did not fit anywhere else. Almost finsihed with Peach Cobbler Murder, not sure what will come next. I will look to see what I have to finish a category.
I finished Between Shades of Gray and don't really have any place to put this. It might squeak by with a doctor in the book, but that's a very small part of the story.
Sorry I kind of fell off the radar there! I did finish Popisho and it could go for food on cover. I also haven’t updated my pages read - sorry about that.
I finished my third so I kept to my promise of 3-5 books! I finishedBlack Sun which originally I was worried wasn't going to meet one of the 6 we needed, but it does include a main character who really enjoys gambling on a pre-colombian era board game. That sounds like something I'd enjoy doing so Hobby it is.
I finished two more books but they really don't fit anywhere unless I start a third column. Great reading, Everybody!
Thanks for a great week! It has been fun as usual! Finished my last book and will count it for pages. Looking forward to the next Read-a-thon! Happy Reading everyone.
I started a new book today but have barely read any of it. I'll add the pages I have read around 11:45 tonight (PST) but have basically completed my books for the Readathon. I finished 5 books and I think I promised 3-4. This was fun and I look forward to participating in the next Readathon.
not super great page numbers for me this week but hey, any reading's better than not reading, right? We'll see if I end up staying up to finish The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but it's probably just pages for me today.great work, everyone! it's been a lot of fun reading alongside you all, I love these readathons :D
I finished my last book for the challenge Stop at Nothing. That makes 7 1/2 books and apparently 2849 pages.
Well, I decided I'd just read a few more pages before bed and ended up staying up until I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo so I snuck that in under the wire. Gonna be very sleepy today!
