I was thinking about the other part of your request for a book that makes you smarter. Really any book would fit this. When you read something or read a new idea you are now that much smarter. Books are brain food.

That is true.. I googled "books that make you smarter" though just out of curiosity, and I'm going to go with Cloud Atlas. So when I have a free moment, I'm going to try to fit that one in.
