Cool interview with Jim Butcher about Codex Alera on youtube today! Seems like it's just in time for us to wrap up this series!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlMYS...
So excited to hit the finale... and will be so sad to see it end... I wish he would write more in this universe, as much as I enjoy Dresden, and am looking forward to seeing the Cinder Spires progress...
There's no such thing as too soon/too late, outside of the competition points rules for the yearly competition a few dozen of us participate in...
For THAT, the rule is 1 week early to 2 weeks late (and refers to when you started the book, once you start you can take months to read, if you want/need to)...
And you're inside the one week rule...

Thanks & Enjoy!!!
I devoured this today... 24hr audiobook, and I started it like 9hrs ago...
It was as good as I didn't remember (my memory for the details of this series, especially past book 2-3, was murky at best... displayed when I tried to discuss which books certain things happened in with Nirkatze, back in the book 1-2 threads in spoilers...
But it was great, and a super easy listen...
I also listened to half the interview Nirkatze linked a week or 2 ago, last week, and kind of wish Butcher had time to do a sequel series, where he says (view spoiler)

Yea... that scene had me thinking that Butcher is doing the romances so well in this series... I think about that alot more than I used to, after all the hate/apathy Sanderson has gotten over the years... and Robert Jordan's hair tugging :D
Yeah--the romances in this series are some of my favorites--and I've often seen it touted around as favorites of other SFF folks as well...Through Chapter 11--(view spoiler)
Damn but I'm right there with you Iain, wishing Butcher would give us a sequel in this world... though I imagine he probably won't even think about it until the Cinder Spires are done, if not Dresden...
Wow, you guys are flying through! My new goal is to start on Saturday. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday, technically giving me a three-day weekend to read.
That's just me and Nirkatze, running from BR to BR, trying to do every one on the schedule, each month :D
Generally, each month, I'm signed up for at least half the Buddy Reads, plus a dozen weeklies not appearing on the list because they're in shared threads or book club threads...

I read 50 books last month... a little dizzy at that thought. Definitely sprinting through everything. But the books are such a comfort, I don't want to stop...Finished my read this morning. I absolutely love the epilogue, and the climax is so action-packed... really feeling that same thing you mentioned, Iain... wishing Butcher would revisit this world again...
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Nyssa!
Thanks Nirkatze.I'm through chapter 3. So many things are going on it feels like a blur.
With the situation between Tavi & Kitai, (view spoiler)
The appearance of (view spoiler)
I'm also curious as to what will happen between Marcus and Magnus.
I hope Amara and Bernard officially adopt the girl.
I'm most anxious to see what happens when everyone knows Tavi is back and the factions meet.

Yessss! Those are good things to look forward to!
Re: Alera -- The ego was what prompted my curiosity.Re: Kitai -- Thank goodness! Appreciate you @Nirkatze
I just finished Chapter 5.
- I wish Tavi had thought of the water gesture before Varg, but the message got across well enough, I guess. I now wonder how it affected the other sightings.
Re: Marcus and Magnus - Heh, interesting; I hope Marcus follows through and is complete in the telling.
Trust in Marcus! I think. Can't quite remember what that's about. LOL. Nor do I specifically remember the water gesture--what was that about?
Water Gesture - Vord Queen's message and Varg's response.Tavi has responded in kind, but (view spoiler)

I'll be finishing chapter 15 later today. It depends on whether or not I go to work after my doctor's appointment (rest vs paycheck).
