Children of Memory (Children of Time #3) [January 30, 2023]
Haha! Me too!!! But as you said, it's periodical and selective:)))) Thank goodness! Sometimes being ignorant or oblivious is a bliss:)

I definitely feel that same *grglkrkshiver* about them... and dust mites.... *grglkrk*
Describing the octopi as like, ADHD, I think is very on point...!
I also look forward to seeing your biblical background analysis Choko! My only bible knowledge is google and children's books...

I really thought Kern's activities there very interesting--(view spoiler)
Choko wrote: "Children of Ruin, Section 5, Past 3, For We are Many ..."I really think it cool how you connected the We to colonization... such a good point!
Choko wrote: "Children of Ruin, Section 6, Present 3, Rolling Back the Stone....."Ooh, I hadn't thought of it as a warning... (view spoiler)
Oh man, that line in Children of Ruin (view spoiler)I don't have any audible credits at the mo' so I'm waiting on a library hold for Children of Memory..
Barry wrote: "Hi guys. I’ve started on Children of Memory. Just tanggung the thread here."I'll start friday :)
I just finished Children of Ruin . Loved it, but I thought the ending was a tad rushed ... The author definitely relied on our previous knowledge of the characters and that discovery we went through in Children of Time was missing somewhat. However, if we didn't have those huge expectations from the first book, this one would have been great. I still really enjoyed it. I have similar questions as Nirkatze for the final resolution, but we are lucky book 3 is here and maybe we will get some more definitive answers... I am just loving this series!!!
Haha , I’m just starting Children of Ruin, been waiting on a library hold as well, so I’ll be a bit behind. Just a reminder, the Memory chapters will probably be organized differently anyway, but be sure to mark which book you’re on.
Okay I have my technological hands on Children of Memory..I kind of appreciate the bit of grounding we get with the summary of the first two books before we get into this one... Someone else does this with his books... Was it Mark Lawrence? not sure...
I do think Lawrence does that--has a summary section at the start of each book. I think Brent Weeks does to... I know I've seen "the story so far" in a bunch of different series...
Yeah, I'm also grateful for the brief summary of the previous books. Coincidentally, I'm also reading Tchaikovsky's Shadows of the Apt series. He also wrote brief summaries in the beginning of each book in that series. At least for the first three books that I've read. I guess it's a thing for him. Children of Memory

It was a little difficult for me to figure out what was going on at the start of Children of Memory, but I'm starting to understand some things now...Through Part 4.1 Liff (view spoiler)
Tonari no Emily wrote: "It was a little difficult for me to figure out what was going on at the start of Children of Memory, but I'm starting to understand some things now..."Same, I've read Part 1 and 2 and didn't know what to say about it... I love the series, but it's sometimes hard for me to understand everything.
I'll read a little more today and try to put my thoughts into words :D
OKAY Children of Memory Part 6.2 (view spoiler) I'm so intrigued by this book right now, I just NEED to find out what's going on!
Tonari no Emily wrote: "OKAY Children of Memory Part 6.2 "Still at the same part, but I just want to emphasize the ending of the chapter(view spoiler)
Franziska (tintenklexxe) wrote: "I'll just read on and hope I understand more with more pages and time XD"Pretty much! :D
Finally started... I liked how the summary of the previous books kept the 8 motif...
And I can see why I saw a bunch of comments about feeling lost at the start...
How fast is the Faster Than Light travel invented by the octopods?... Doesn't seem very fast, considering how long the explorers spent in stasis... Then again, I forget how long it took the initial terraformers to reach Kern's World in book 1...

Read a few comments and it seems I'm saying similar things about the early sections... I'll read more later when I have time...
I might have actually been in 5.1 last time...
But further now, but still in Part 5, I think: the structure of this book is definitely complicated, Franziska... (view spoiler)

I suck at chapter tracking… I was in Part 6 last time… noticed when I reached Part 7… in 8 now… (view spoiler)
Got the ebook sample and I see the structure of the novel just has some shorter parts than previous books, so parts end sooner than I expect…

Ooh! Tardigrades! So many tantalizing hints of what’s to come!
I get you though, Choko, about envisioning mites in mattresses and such. I have OCD, but it sometimes can feel very arbitrary as to what triggers it. Sometimes I can conveniently forget about it. Then all off a sudden one day everything feels itchy and I need to launder all my sheets and take a shower and don’t want to touch. Anything.
