The Convenient Marriage has already been nominated - we don't bother with seconding. :)
Crazy About Love ❤️ wrote: "Hope that wasn’t already on a list? Couldn’t get the links to open - have a spotty connection here."No I didn't hyperlink the nominations, sorry.
If members would like that I'll do that next time. :)
& nominations closed.
I'll put up a poll shortly.
& the poll is up. Here it is https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...It should also be on the home page. :)
I'm excited to see who will win
& the poll has closed & The Grand Sophy was the winner. The read will begin on the 1st of October.
Thanks all who voted!
& Critterbee & I have had a chat & decided that since LofQ only lost by one vote that we would read that in November.Critterbee will lead both reads.
We usually have a month off group reads, & this year it will be December. A good chance to catch up on reads, both for this group & any other group reads/challenges you do. :)
Oh I am so pleased. Two of my favourites so I'll be happy to read them one after the other. Great decision Carol and Critterbee!
The Grand Sophy is one of my favourites!! Not as keen on Lady of Quality but I still enjoy reading it - for probably the 100th time!!
Always love a revisit with Sophy - my library had the unabridged audiobook available, so I’ve already started my reread (never know if it will be available in October). Such fun!
Once again I got no notification about the voting!! Keeps happening. I'm happy to read the books that won anyway.
Yes, Goodreads is very unreliable these days. I'm constantly getting knocked off lists and not getting notifications, sigh.
It's a right pain Abigail. I keep checking in to see if there's anything new. Nothing shows up them bam! a notice about a new read. I don't mind. I'll read anything by Heyer but it would be nice to see the books put forward and the voting.
I think I have suggested this before but if you go to this page;https://www.goodreads.com/group/list/...
& run your eye down it you can see if any of your groups have new posts. Also shows your upcoming Group Reads.
Amazon/Goodreads just aren't interested in groups. I think they underestimate how much well run groups do to keep people on Goodreads.
Thanks for that Carol. Yes I think you did mention that before. My memory is not what it was and it's gotten worse since I had covid. I've bookmarked the page now and I'll check it everyday. This group is the one I'm most active in and I enjoy the most.

To be honest, although there are things that could be improved about groups, I would rather the developers didn't touch them. Most recent changes to GR have made things worse. :/
That’s a pity, Carol—you mods do so much to build community and rarely get enough appreciation. It’s hard to have to battle GR system barriers as well.
What I would have loved (especially with the old Feedback group) was when posts are deleted that the emptied post stayed there with "deleted by member" or "deleted by mod." Often old threads don't make sense. But I have been told this would be a very difficult change to make.
yes, thank you to the mods and folk who run the groups! groups are the ONLY reason I am on goodreads! I am another person who has trouble remembering anything and it's gotten worse since I had covid.
I really wish goodreads would notifiy me when I new thread is started in any of my groups.
I need to make it a habbit to check my profile, apparently?
The only way I manage to stay on top of my GR groups, friends, etc is by checking my GR 'home' page daily! (I use a laptop for all my GR stuff, and not a smartphone, for what that's worth... )I also want to thank Carol and all the other group mods. You folks are the best!
Thanks for all the tips. I never think to check my home page. I’ve always relied on my email updates from Goodreads but I notice some don’t reach me so I’d better start checking!

Seconded! (I use an iPad to check my home page a few times a day, iPhone screen too small for me!)

thanks, Barb, I think the home page and where I was told to go to see my feed is the same thing. I just need to form the new habit of checking there!
thanks to all for helping clear things up. love the people on Goodreads, helps make the challenges worthwhile
