Kristenelle | 641 comments Can we start a list of stuff that will be eligible for the Dramatic Presentation categories of the Hugo's for next year? I'm not talking about anything comprehensive, but I'd love a place to note when any of us has seen something that is particularly good and might be worth nominating.

I was just watching Orville season 3 and episode 8: Midnight Blue was fantastic. I will definitely keep it in mind for BDP: Short Form.

Kristenelle | 641 comments Also, just saw Jordan Peele's latest horror film - "Nope." Also fantastic! Keeping in mind for long form.

Long form:
Everything Everywhere All At Once, which for me is unlikely to be beat no matter what else arrives this year.
Nope is good competition though.
The Umbrella Academy S3, no standout episodes come to mind but I really enjoyed the season as a whole.

Short form:
Stranger Things S4E4 "Dear Billy"
Love, Death & Robots S3E9 "Jibaro"

I'm currently watching Westworld, Paper Girls, Severance, and Made for Love, but no standout episodes yet. Severance probably deserves a nomination for the season under LF, and I'm only 3 eps in.

I haven't yet started For All Mankind S3 or See S3, but I really enjoy both and expect FAM in particular to be nomination-worthy.

Kristenelle | 641 comments I forgot about Everything Everywhere All At Once! Yes, I bet that will win. Everyone loves it. I liked it pretty well, although I did get a little bored with all the extended action scenes even though they were very creative and well done.

Stranger Things was great! I wouldn't mind maybe nominating the whole season for long form.

I'll check out Jibaro! I haven't tried out that show yet.

Westworld was super fun as always, but also not exactly mind blowing. The visuals are amazing and beautiful, the music is fantastic, the characters are wonderful, but the story....is so convoluted and takes itself so darn seriously. I will always watch and love it, but I don't know that it will ever be my first choice for an award.

I still haven't watched any of For All Mankind but it sounds amazing! That and Sandman are high on my list to get to next!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Matthew. A few eligibility comments:

LF: Spiderman:
No Way Home is a Dec. 2021 release so it won't be eligible for the coming year.

SF:
Stranger Things S4E9 is like 150 minutes long isn't it? So it's only eligible in long form, not short form. The cutoff between the two is 90 minutes. Definitely worth a nomination though.

I also thought Prey was excellent and would nominate it. So far I'm not super impressed with any of the newer things I've seen. The Sandman is great. But I'm not as keen on Severance or LOTR as I hoped I'd be.

Kristenelle | 641 comments Thanks for sharing, Matthew!

Some thoughts in what I’ve seen since I last posted…

Moon Knight was enjoyable but underwhelming.

Sandman was visually stunning but didn’t completely sweep me away.

We just started Cabinet of Curiosities and so far it is fantastic! Each episode is a separate horror story directed by a different person. Guillermo del Torro is producing. It is on Netflix.

I tried Cyberpunk (a Netflix anime), but it wasn’t for me. Nice aesthetic but it was too depressing for me. It was portraying this hopeless, brutal poverty and I couldn’t. My husband finished it though and enjoyed it.

I still need to watch Prey. And the Unofficial Hugo Blog was posting on Twitter about a couple other movies that sounded interesting. I think one of them was called Blue Neptune.

MH | 306 comments Andor, either LF for the whole series, or "One Way Out" or "Rixs Road" for short form.

Also The Peripheral is looking pretty good.

I've been watching Andor too. It is incredible, by far the best Star Wars TV show. I really enjoyed Rogue One and it is the perfect follow up.

I haven't had a chance to try The Peripheral yet, I want to read the book before watching, too...

Kristenelle | 641 comments I'm planning to start Andor soon. I'm not much of a Star Wars fan anymore, but I've heard Andor is amazing and has appeal outside the Star Wars fan base.

Me neither, but I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

I started Wednesday on Netflix, and it is pretty good. 1 1/2 episodes only because Christmas shows with my husband is pretty much the norm right now.
