Sunnie was a sad girl. When she got older, I had the impression that she was a needy adult. She was missing something in her life. Being the town gossip gave her a status. Boy was I wrong.
I actually kept my eye on her. Early on, when she started popping up all silly and pushy, I felt like there was more to the character than met the eye. The longer I read, the more I suspected she was at the very least involved. She hid behind her silly, gossipy facade.

Same here, Sandra. It was just something more than being annoying.
I come from a small hometown (no longer small) and there’s always that person who everyone tolerated. You eventually start to tune that person out and don’t really pay much attention to him or her. It’s easy to miss them growing into adulthood with sociopathic tendencies that others can see pretty easily. So, I understood how the whole town underestimated her, including her husband.
Looks like Sarah was the only one who saw her clearly early on. That’s probably because she was looking out for her sister.
