Comparison to Movie

How is the book similar to the movie?

What was missing in the movie?

What did you like about the movie that you didn't think about while reading the book?

Well, the book and movie were very different. The movie had lots of things out of place and order, but it didn't seem like it mattered a whole bunch, because it still contributed to the plot well. Like in the book, Fiona is a Caregiver for the Elders, but in the movie she's a Caregiver for the Young. But, it goes a lot better with the story because then she helps save Gabe. You see what I mean?

The movie added this huge action plot at the end. It made no sense and was completely out of place.

I Love the part when the giver made that speech to stall for jonas's return of the memories to the community

I actually liked the movie a lot more. There were things in the book that confused me and it made a lot more sense on screen to me.

I watched the movie then I read the book, and im just sitting there like...https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/im...

I read the book way too many times to count and I loved (L-O-V-E....LOVED!) it. And then the movie came out and I was like....
O_O.... wait what?
The movie wasn't as familiar to me as the book was so I didn't enjoy it as much. And by that I mean I was that 1 person who was yelling "That never happened in the book! Who wrote this script?! Did they even READ the book?!"
Yeah.... but the movie wasn't terrible had you
(a) Never read the book OR
(b) Needed more of a visual if the book wasn't so clear to you.
:)

In the movie, I have to say the acting wasn't great, the script wasn't great, and the plot wasn't great. The book was so much better than the movie (as it usually is): this time the movie was just generally missing vital info or added unwanted plot info. Some movies are good: Life of Pi (not as good as the book but still terrific) and divergent (it was a good movie). The Giver movie was ok, but not terrific
