Karin | 9316 comments Yes, I am in the minority here. Turow writes well but I wasn't able to stay consistently engaged, partly because I've never been to law school. I have been in a programme that was just as intense that had its own issues, but it was so very different that that the intensity and time consumption were the only shared factors.

That said, this was a very important book in its day and I think that even today anyone considering law school should read it for the history of what was going on. I am sure that law school is still very intense, demanding and time consuming with many challenges, but at least one of the points made in the book was just beginning to be changed in a few progressive law schools at that time.

I agree :) . I also think that that is primarily who has rated it.

I am currently reading it and really enjoying it, but I did not attend law school. As with most everything, I think it just depends on your personal interests.

You went to Engineering School, right? I actually would include Architecture, Engineering, Medicine as part of target audience because there are real similarities in the experience of those professional schools, especially the tough first year, which are not just about acquiring learning, but also having the way you think, analyze, write, research, and read changed in a way that you never lose or shut off.

Many don't make it past first year.

Joy D | 10326 comments Yes, I went to an engineering school. And yes, it was quite the pressure filled experience, so I could definitely relate.
