Hi! So I am new to the group! Just want to make sure I understand the game plan - someone suggests a book and how long do we have to read it? Is it monthly? At what point in the month is the books suggested? Who picks the book? Lol. Sorry just trying to get the lay of the land.
One of us usually suggests a book and the rest say yes/no, though I don't think we've had a no so far :) so at the beginning we agree on the number of chapters that we're going to read per week. This time it's 10 chapters to read during the week and then we leave comments sometime around the weekend. Everyone's welcome to join, the more the merrier!
Hi Amy! It’s nice if you to join us! We read a set amount of chapters each week and then share our thoughts in here. Whenever we get half way (or sooner) someone usually suggests out next read which gives us time to get our hands on a copy. You’re welcome to suggest what you’d like to read at any point!
Haha, high five, Anna, we've posted simultaneously 😄 I'm stilll finishing Group Therapy, but I can't wait to start this one tomorrow, especially now that Laurette liked the beginning!!
Thank you for the welcome! I appear to be quite a bit older than all of you but I have been reading romance for about 40 years. Haha anyway I am grateful to join the group. Thank you for the summary!! Look forward to chatting through your the next few weeks.
Returns high five! It’s a talent! And don’t worry Amy, after all, age is just a number. We’re happy to have you on board!
Don't worry, Amy! I don't even know how old everyone is, but I don't think it matters much. At the end of the day we're all reading the same book here, so it will only be more interesting if we happen to have different observations, possibly because of our life experience! Really looking forward to this one :)
Im newish as well so thanks for explaining. I was watching the comments on the last read, and so I’m excited to join in on this one.10 chapters is great with me.
Well this book is interesting. I love Nora’s sis. She is so fun and I’m glad they are getting close again. I love her list! Might be fun to travel with a list. I’ll keep that in mind. Cute idea. I loved the epilogue with Nora and Charlie seeming like they hated each other. Now it’s getting steamy and every time there is a forget that just happened or we can’t do this, you know it’s just gonna get steamier!!! Hahaha I can’t wait!
I am loving this one so far!I like how complicated the characters are, as well as their backstories. I just love Emily Henry's writing style.
The way a trope is approached from a whole other angle is refreshing and original. The chemistry between Nora and Charlie is real and I can't wait to read on and figure out their story.
Traveling with a list of fun things to do sounds wicked! But what would make it even more interesting is if someone else made this list for us, just so we wouldn't go easy on ourselves :)I only finished reading now. I really liked these first chapters - Emily Henry is showing off her talent yet again. Both Nora and Charlie got my interest, but Libby is definitely my favourite. Can't wait to carry on reading.
(Next chapters are bound to be shorter, as that was one third of the whole book.)
Can you remind me what a trope is again? I tried googling but don’t think I’m understanding. Thanks!
A trope is something a book is easily categorised as. For example friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, second chance romance, small town romance, fake dating, forced proximity, only one bed, workplace romance and so on.Most books have a mix of a few tropes. Emily Henry truly gave a spin on the small town romance trope. In the back (don’t worry, I didn’t read the end) she tells a little about how she came up with the story. It’s worth taking a peek at!
I love the idea of looking at it from the Hallmark “villain’s” perspective. As an avid watcher of those adorably cheesy movies, I’ve actually said to my husband that I wonder how the poor boyfriend or girlfriend feels knowing they were just celebrating Xmas (or Easter or V. Day etc) and all of a sudden their significant other is like “ forget the life we planned I’m moving away so xmasville to run a reindeer farm…
I’m also loving her sister and the closeness they’ve shared and the feeling of trying to recapture that when life gets in the way.
I'm loving Nora and Charlie's chemistry, it feels like they're such a good match! I'm a little bit worried for Libby and whatever's happening in her head. It's sad that Nora feels that Libby doesn't trust her with her problems, but I think I can say - as a have a sister myself - that it's not always about trust... Sometimes you just don't want to talk about something to anyone. How is it with you, girls? Do you allways need to talk to your friend about whatever's bothering you or do you tend to keep things to yourself? I'm deffinitely in the second group, however I don't think it has anything to do with trust, not in my case at least.
Great observation Lena. Holding back even from someone you love isn’t always about trust. My oldest sister is my best friend and while I tell her most everything I do know there are things that I keep to myself when I know she may not be strong enough to hear them. She’s had much harder experiences in life and has the biggest heart so she takes on other peoples stress and emotions very easily. She’d hate knowing that but it’s enough for me knowing I could tell her if I needed to. I think it’ll be interesting to find out what Libby is processing. I think there is definitely more going on with Libby then kids and sleep deprivation.
Things got hot with Charlie then backed down again, lol. I’m patiently waiting for them to be together. Yes, Libby keeps disappearing so I’m wondering what she is up to. A little suspenseful there. I guess I’ll shall continue reading and find out!
I’m loving how sweet Charlie is to Nora. He says such nice supportive things. That’s kinda a big secret for Libby to hide from Nora. I can see why Nora freaked out. But moving is a touchy topic between family. People get so defensive. Hoping for a happy ending with Nora living with Charlie by Libby. ❤️
I've been behind on my reading so I didn't share any thoughts last week, but it has led to the best thing ever... Getting to read about twenty chapters in a row has been bliss.Libby is a big part of this story, and even though it's a pretty idiotic move to hide something this important from Nora (compromising on health is never smart), it brought so much more depth to their relationship as well as showed Nora's personality (and fears) so well.
I just LOVE Nora and Charlie and the way they connect and read each other so easily. It's like they were made for one another. At this point, they both have legit reasons to stick where they are (Nora in NYC and Charlie in Sunshine Falls). I want them to figure it out with everything within me, but I do wonder how these two different worlds can be merged.
Another plus about finishing so late in the week, I can continue right on till the ending!
The ending is amazing but I won’t post til Friday ❤️ Happy reading! There is another thread for book suggestions. So far I just put one because no one responded. Let me get the link.

Here's the new feed for the next Group Read.
Should we start this week?
