Diane Moseley | 2644 comments More Questions Than Answers? -Sometimes we may have more questions than answers, more problems than solutions regarding our lives. It could be financial woes, a failed marriage, Illness, job loss, etc. "The Bible never once says, "figure it out!" but over and over it says, "Trust God." -This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. -34:4
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. -1 Peter 5:7

Michael Kinch | 1 comments Thanks Diane. Great words of encouragement. Very true, sometimes we have more questions than answers. It is at these times that we dive into the word where we find God speaking to us. Sometimes he has answers that we were not aware of or even imagined. In these situations he becomes our strength and our rock.

Carmel Attard Hi Diane:
You wrote, "The Bible never once says, 'figure it out!' but over and over it says, 'Trust God.'"
I think just sitting and waiting for God to act on our behalf is a formula for disaster.
What about "God helps those who help themselves"? I think we should "figure it out."
I think we should do our utmost to solve our problems as if it all depended on us alone: at the same time pray to God for inspiration and guidance.
Best regards.
Carmel.

After Carmel's reply, I thought you might need one more word of encouragement. I think you're absolutely correct. There are so many times in my life when I had to just "Be still and know that God was God" (Psalm 46:10) as I waited for His direction. I often got impatient and sometimes even tried to run ahead (which, to quote Carmel is, in my experience, the true formula for disaster). "God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts" (Isaiah 55:9) so we don't always understand what's happening. We ask the questions and trust God will eventually show us the answers.

Carmel, I think before I can trust your theology on this topic, I'm going to need some scripture to back up your quotes:
"God helps those who help themselves"
"Figure it out"
"Solve our problems as if it all depended on us alone"
I've read the entire book from cover to cover at least 25 times and I've never found anything to support those statements.

Carmel Attard Hi Lynne:
What you're saying is that if we realize Hitler is attacking Europe imposing his inhuman ideologies, we should just sit tight and wait for God to deliver us.
Or, to make it more personal, if a lady is being raped, she should wait for God to deliver her, not fight back.
Do you agree with that?
Is the Bible the ONLY source of human wisdom?
What about your reason, wasn't that hardwired to everyone of us by God himself?
Best regards.
Carmel.
