I am reading Chasing the Duke by Tracy Sumner for my Georgian read. Not to sure this is classed as Georgian or Regency.

While researching for Georgian read. I have found most reads are called Regency. Georgian started in 1714 to 1830 and can even include William iv 1837. 1811 to 1820 is the Regency period . So do the Georgian reads have to be from 1714 to 1811 .🤔🤷♀️
@Shaz , that short time of Prinny's Regency does make it confusing. Technically your correct, I just tend to always consider Georgian 1714-1803. The clothing and different wars make it hard for me to consider Regency era as Georgian, atleast when picking a book. But that is a good question
I'm behind the Georgian one thanks to a fantasy series I've been binge reading, but I plan to catch up this weekend.
Lauren wrote: "Does western have to be cowboys? Does Gold Rush/mining count? Can it be in Australia?"Oh these are good questions! According to Wiki (as legit as it is), Australian Westerns are a thing. They're also known as the meat pie Western or kangaroo Western haha!!! A possible example would be the movie Australia with Hugh Jackman.
Finally finished To Beguile a Beast and loved the healing that the hero and heroine go through, especially with the roles the children play in it.
Lauren wrote: "does Night In Eden by Candice Proctor or Fever Dream by Katherine Sutcliffe count as western?"I haven't read Night in Eden yet, but from the sounds of it I'd say so. Not sure about Dream Fever.
I got sucked into Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold for westerns, so saving Beverly Jenkins for civil war choice.
Lauren wrote: "does Night In Eden by Candice Proctor or Fever Dream by Katherine Sutcliffe count as western?"Lauren there are plenty of other lovely Westerns that you might like to try if you're not sure. e.g. authors like Ellen O'Connell, Jo Goodman, Kaki Warner, LaVyrle Spencer, Maggie Osborne etc.
This is not my favorite category. I rarely read Westerns but I'll look up some of these authors. Thanks for the suggestions Jan!@Christine L, thanks for the help. I hope your enjoying your book.
I don’t read many western books . I did like Cathrine Anderson, Comanche Moon. Which I gave 5 stars .
I read
by Jodi Thomas for Western. It is a fantastic story and I freely admit I teared up in parts. The rest of the series is set in contemporary times; while it is excellent, I really wish Thomas had written about some of the other characters in the historical prequel.
I've heard a lot about Comanche Moon! I guess I'm not in the mood of a western as much as I thought I was, because I put it down and can't get back into it. So I've gone for Lisa Kleypas books for your choice including Devil in Disguise . Gave it a 5 star:).
If anyone needs extra help finding Tudor/Renaissance romances for August, feel free to check the ones I've saved. I've found some books aren't always super clear on the time period in the synopsis, and only mention the year at the first chapter. Unless it's a biography/historical fiction, you can be safe in assuming it's a romance with the off chance it's a mystery (feel free to ask). https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
I just finished
for western. This is my first Merry Farmer book, and I did enjoy how she wrote about the marriage of convenience. Her characters really do seem to grow and form a relationship. 3.5* Will look for more Farmer books in the future. My second book is
4* this is an author that I like so was looking forward to her books. I have Kindle Unlimited for the summer so trying to use some books on my list for the reads.
Darbella wrote: "Christine L. Thanks so much for the link!"Enjoy ^_^.
@Merry Jewelhound I didn't realize that Minerva had started a new series, will have to take a look!

I just looked on Kindle Unlimited and they listed books that I KNOW are NOT correctly listed.

Do people usually categorize Plantagenets (e.g., Henry VIII's father) as Medieval or Tudors?
I would class Henry the 7th as Tudor. He took over the throne of England. Was no blood relation to the Plantagenet. (Medieval)He was the first of the Tudor line. Though we do call Elizabeth the 1st , Elizabethan times.
Shaz wrote: "I would class Henry the 7th as Tudor. ."Agreed. Henry VII was the first Tudor and Elizabeth I was the last. The Elizabethan Era could be classified as part of the Tudor period like the Regency is a subset of the Georgian period.

"No blood relation" is not truly accurate as they were all related to each other in some way. But I get what you're saying... he wasn't a direct descendant.
Finished Western:
My choice:
One is a cattle station in Australia and one a small sheep station in New Zealand. Both really are westerns. Trying to cover my bases ;)

Yeah, same. I always saw the Elizabethan Era as a subcategory.

I'm sure there are more, people just tend to mark Tudor romance as medieval a lot more frequently, so it's hard to know sometimes.
Patti wrote: ""No blood relation" is not truly accurate as they were all related to each other in some way..."True. Henry VII was a descendant of John of Gaunt (3rd son of Edward III - House of Plantagenet ) through the Beaufort line.
Christine L. wrote: "Jo wrote: "HELP!!! Can anyone recommend a book for the Renaissance/Tudor pick? I'm going to enjoy looking through them :)
I'm considering Behind Closed Doors by Betina Krahn for Tudor. It was published in 1991 so might be a bit too old skool. I will try the kindle sample first and see what I think.
@padma, hope you enjoy Wolf Bride! It's been years since I read it.@Jan, I read the first book in the series awhile ago. I didn't realize there is a 2nd book. I might have to change my pick.
I'm rereading:
The Bridled Tongue by Catherine Meyrick
I found The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley on the diversity list. Does anyone know if it really does have a minority character?
^My guess as to why someone put Lord Ian Mackenzie's story on a GR diversity list is b/c of how his mind works?
Lauren wrote: "I found The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley on the diversity list. Does anyone know if it really does have a minority character?"There is no minority character. The hero is on the Autism spectrum perhaps Aspergers.
