Romance Across The Ages - 2022 Challenge
I finished my January read for American Revolution. The Secret Wife of Aaron Burr: A Riveting Untold Story of the American Revolution by Susan Holloway Scott. A fictionalised version of real events, told through the eyes of Mary, a slave woman who had two children to (the then married) Aaron Burr. It was rather long, but very interesting. 4 stars. Yay! First challenge book down, and it was a good one!
Tracking list is now live. See Message 1. If I missed anyone, please let me know. It was definitely unintentional if I did!
Preeti, Lauren & Sunny -- I didn't see a tracking post for you, so I linked to either your first post or one that listed books you are working on. I can update if you want to use a different post.
We have a few new participants this year. Welcome! This is a good challenge to get outside of what you might typically read in HR and try something new. If you have questions, please let me know. There are also several members that have done this challenge for a few years that can answer questions or give suggestions if you are stuck. Some of the categories are hard to find a book that fits, and some have a quite a selection.

I have been trying to find the challenge page to put the number of books I will be reading for this challenge. Cannot find it. It’s normally on the home page for this group. The challenges for last year’s are their. I managed to update the MAAS challenge which only shows up when I press the challenge , top right hand side of the page.
Wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

Thanks Beau, no worries. You don’t have to stick with the months. Do you have a tracking post that I can add to the list?

Read Love Not a Rebel by Heather Graham over the weekend. What a great revolutionary romance. Couldn't put the book down. An awesome read
Padma wrote: "Read Love Not a Rebel by Heather Graham over the weekend. What a great revolutionary romance. Couldn't put the book down. An awesome read"Glad you enjoyed, Padma. This challenge is fun. It's great to try books from different periods I usually mightn't look at.
Yes Jan. Had already read creole fires for American Revolution period but this one was part of the series North American woman trilogy. The entire series was good

Will do! Sometimes I'm reading more than one book at a time and it takes me a bit to get through them - what with going back and forth - but I'll let you know!

a pretty good book."Wow! You've had a real pirate month!
Unfortunately, A Castaway in Cornwall is too slow for me (not to say it doesn't have its own merits; I think readers would find it similar to the Larkrise to Candleford show--I've also been extremely picky this year), so I am flying through Lord of Scoundrels instead.
I want to read Portrait of a Scotsman for February, but unfortunately I'm still on the wait list at the library. Hopefully it will be in before the end of the month :) If not, I'll do a Regency instead. Portrait of a Scotsman is also a BOTM for February, so, two birds with one stone ;)
I listened to the audiobook
and was not a fan. Here is my review https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...I am also doing the BOTM and am about halfway through
Hi all, I just wanted to recommend the website, historicalnovelsociety.org - I love it. You can look up books by period, etc. and it just helps find books possibly set in more rare periods.

Are the others in the series as good?
That is the only one in the series that I have read. The book was part of the old Romance package (since discontinued) form audiobooks. I liked it so much I bought it.
Christine L. wrote: "Are the others in the series as good?"I really liked The Last Hellion, which is kind of a sequel, but can be read as a standalone.
I could never get into/finish books 1 or 2, although I believe some people love them.

My library has it! I'll check it out. I've noticed that some series sometimes have a "hallmark" book that is just better then the rest.

I think that series wasn’t written as a series, but it was grouped together later because it was the same world. I haven’t read the others either though.

I have a question about the JANUARY "American Revolution", this refence books that the plot happens in the US Revolutionary Period from 1775 to 1783?
In the Lists for Inspiration/Ideas
Order sorted alphabetically rather than by month featured, there´s only Americana/Gilded Age not American Revolution.

Look under Revolutionary War. I think I meant to change that category to just Revolutionary War to allow for different wars but apparently only did in one place.
Our novella for March fits this category.

Our novella for March fits this category.
So, I have for January American Revolution this books that I want to read, I´m undecided, what do you think?
Sarah's War
The Lacemaker
The Women of Chateau Lafayette
Forget Me Not
And last but not least (my favorite but I have to buy it):
Muskets and Minuets
Did any one read those books?

The Last Hellion is definitely connected though, because it's about a close friend of the hero from Lord of Scoundrels.

Sorry, Sandra, haven't read any of those. I have read a couple of Laura Frantz books (liked one, not so much the other) but haven't read that particular book. She writes, clean, Christian-themed books, if that helps you decide one way or another. I'll be interested to see how you find whichever one you pick :)
I finished Portrait of a Scotsman for my Scottish theme. (Also one of our February BOTMs). I gave 2 to 2.5 stars. I think it's one of those books that divides readers, as there are reviews on both positive and negative. In the end, I found it disappointing and not really a romance. There was a romance in it, but it was kinda more a women's fiction, which I wasn't looking for. Oh well, February challenge done :)
