I have enjoyed reading a number of these books, including Madame Bovary and Decameron. There have been a couple of buddy reads of Decameron here at Catching Up, a resource should you need or want it.

I have a copy of Madame Bovary, which have been on the shelf for a while, so I hope to finish it next year. The Decameron is new. I was attracted to it because I eventually finished The Canterbury Tales this year. Enjoy your reading.
Hi Wayne--you have a great challenge planned! I don't know if you like noir, but I see that you have Devil in a Blue Dress on your TBR and I read that one this year and really enjoyed it. For a different option, I always recommend one of my most favorites, Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine. Have fun!

I read widely, so occasionally do read crime fiction. I read March Violets, and enjoyed it in part, but thought the ending was a bit far-fetched. Enjoyed the Millennium Trilogy. Also have James Ellroy , Raymond Chandler and Richard Stark on the TBR list

Thanks Aubrey, Another good suggestion.
Wonderful Bingo Board, we have similar taste. I've also compared our reading lists and I would like to suggest Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.

I have it listed already as one of my planned reads in the Short Story Challenge, so think I will leave the bingo slot open for another read.
Marilyn wrote: "If you like classic noir I suggest The Asphalt Jungle by W.R. Burnett."Thanks Marilyn. This is new, so have added it to the TBR list.
Thank you friends for the suggestions. I have decided to go with the Dandelion Wine. The other three are on the TBR list and I hope to get to them sooner rather than later.

You'll see the group's threads on this one--we read it earlier this year. The non-spoiler one is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

At first I was a bit perplexed about the body hanging from the tree on the cover of the book I read,
, but it is a great narration of a young boy's summer. It is not always that one can laugh at the demise of a serial killer. I will add a bit more in my notes to the book.

It's with great sadness that I am taking farewell of Wayne who will not be completing this challenge. He passed away recently and I will miss our buddy reads and his lovely sense of humour. This eulogy is a lovely tribute to him: https://www.mosselbayadvertiser.com/N...
I’m so sorry Carolien. Thank you for posting the lovely tribute to Wayne. He was so young and admired by his family and community.
I'm so sorry. Carolien, thank you for sharing this sad information and the link. What a touching tribute. He sounded like a wonderful man and will be missed by many.
Thank you for sharing this sad news, Carolien. I am sorry his family and friends lost him at such a young age.
This is such sad news, Carolien. I too appreciate you sharing the tribute, and I'm sorry for you personal loss, as well as for what the world clearly lost with his death.
I came here with the preconceived idea that this guy called Wayne had completed his challenge. Instead he is dead. They say that when a man dies it's like a library being burnt. How sadly true it is for Wayne. Thanks for sharing the last news of him, Carolien.
Such sad news. The eulogy really reflects how much he was loved and will be missed.I'm sorry for your loss, Carolien.
Thank you for letting us know. In this strange internet existence there are pleasures of getting to know people we would have never met otherwise. Yet, when people stop posting we often never know why. I am sorry for your loss.
