Naomi and Jan BR thread
Hmm.. guess we’ll find out! I for one have no predictions so I’m just gonna watch it all unfold because this last part is bound to have a good amount of action so I’m excited
but I guess it's for the best bc if we tried to read this at a faster pace, I think it's be too much for us lol
Lol I definitely would not be able to do more😂 as much as I love this book it's so slow paced and dense that if we read 200+ pages tomorrow my head would literally implode 😭
If We Were VillainsIt’s… eh. I’ve read The Secret History already and this book compares by saying his debut novel has the same vibe as the secret history but so far they’re…. Basically the same for the most part. Very minor differences. I’m only invested to see why the person who took the blame took the blame… 😭 hoping to finish it today
I think I’d like it much better if I hadn’t read the secret history. The parallels are just way too obvious😭
Both of those are in my tbr!I guess maybe I'll start with If We Were Villains and then read TSH and see how it goes for me?
Maybe! They’re verrrry similar. Most people favor one over the other because same concept, just depends on the person it seems. I think I’m leaning toward the secret history because I’m… bored. I was hoping this ending would be like GASP and would redeem this one for me because I’m curious but I’m almost at page 300 and unimpressed. So you’ll probably favor whatever one you read first since they’re essentially the same 😂
It’s not a bad book… just.. i feel like it’s a bit predictable bc of TSH😂 just waiting to see how Oliver, the book is from his perspective, wraps this story up maybe he’ll make it all better for me!
This last Act, it’s split up like a play is the most interesting it’s been since like Act II or III lol😭😂 It’s better! Might improve my rating now that chaos is occurring at the end … as it should! Still very reminiscent of the chaos at the end of TSH. But… different chaos so I finally can’t compare them much. It’s hard not to though I tried to forget TSH when I started this to not be biased bc I loooooved that book.
The end was… excellent. Wow. Pleasantly surprised. Slow to start, good in the middle, tapered off, 10/10 ending. I can’t be mad at it I’ve read much worse 😂 it’s like a 4 star book
Also did you know which book you wanted to read next? 56 days or House of Hollow?😌 no rush because we don’t have to start like immediately after we finish this one, I’m just curious on where you wanted to go next 😂

I'm leaning towards 56 Days? Just because I really want to see Covid from the perspective of a book lol
Okay 56 days sounds good! And same. False witness had a Covid element but it felt off I can’t explain it. Very jarring and like randomly thrown it at places 😭😭Because we all know the pandemic and the seriousness of it when it all started but 😂 I feel like it’s interesting to see if books can do the COVID plot without overdoing it or under doing it if that makes sense. Like making it accurate.
we finally finish this book tomorrow!I'm going to try to convince my parents to watch the movie with me next weekend. We just got HBO and the movie was the first to pop up on my screen, so my FBI agent has definitely have been monitoring our BR
Lol😭😭😭 I love HBO! I have like literally every streaming service idk if it’s embarrassing or impressive at this point😭😂 and just when I was finally about to brave The Shining and Doctor Sleep combo they took Doctor sleep off I was so 😑😑😑😑
Good luck 😭 I’ve been fixated on criminal minds AGAIN so… all the shows and movies I have lined up for books I’ve read are sitting there like “hello…?” I do really wanna read The Stand bc the show is on paramount+ and looks absolutely unhinged. But two big books in one month?😵💫 sounds traumatizing
I love the shows and movies on HBO but I actually prefer the Netflix setup! There's so many things I want to watch since it's brand new to me, so I always end up just starting at My List for a really long time 😭
I think after out BR tonight, I'll give the show Succession a try, and also my friends have been bugging me for years to see GoT and so I'm also kind of leaning towards that one.My October TBR is not liking this
The only thing about HBO that makes me 😠😠😠 is how you want to watch a movie and then I’ll go check the “leaving soon” list and like half the movies I wanted to watch are leaving😭😭😭 sometimes they come back though so I try not to get too sad!
But at least HBO tells you they're leaving soon, Netflix kind of just yeets them out without warning. One time, I was watching Modern Family, I took a 30 minute break and when I came back it wasn't available anymore 😠😭

Seeeee I have a hardddd time giving new tv shows a go I have a lot of shows I’ve watched the first episode of or like up to one season and gave up… 😂😂 I’m the type of person where I can’t “wait for it to get good” like I’m bored 20 mins in and give up and it sucks bc I know there’s so many shows people say get better after the initial episodes😭😭😭 one day I’ll brave a new show other than Only Murders in the Building😂 otherwise I’m sticking to my comfort shows lol

This is true!! I usually read the articles buzzfeed puts out every month about what’s coming and leaving Netflix and it helps! They even put dates!
I have the same problem! I've actually stopped watching shows in the middle of the first episode 😂I did that with the first episode of The Office three times, before I decided to sit through the whole first season
Don’t want you up until like midnight reading because of me 😂 we can start at like 8:30 my time, 9:30 yours? The twins are coming tomorrow so I’ll need a little time to eat and get ready for bed if they leave at 6 like usual 😂
Seems like you might be right about the taking her to 2011 thing. I couldn’t imagine the culture shock that’ll be to her if she goes 😂😭 going from 1963 to 2011!? Yikes. My grandma still doesn’t understand how iPhones work lmao
Jan wrote: "I feel so bad for Sadie :(("yes! All of this was pretty much the last thing I was expecting for her :(
wait but if he were to take her...and then they come back so it's the same date as always, would there be two Sadies?lol I'm overthinking and it's probably not even going to happen :/
He mentioned that so I think it’s either they stay or they go, no redos 😅 so he’s got to get it right 😭 plus he said he doesn’t think he has the energy to do this twice and I def get it lmao But yeah there would definitely be 2 Sadies
