I wouldn't have that problem. I learned to listen to my music as low as possible because I grew up listening to my music at the lowest possible volume at night to listen to my learning repertoire while I was asleep usually. Because my room is the closest to the neighbors' bedrooms. Our neighbors have little kids and one of the families next door used to complain. The only times I have it up is if I'm dancing, singing along, or I'm doing the laundry. And I don't use my headphones those times.
I think my brother has his volume all the way up on his headphones to drown out arguments since my parents separated

I admit I always glance at my mom every time I have any music on that sounds inappropriate, but she never blinks an eye. My brother doesn't really judge my music anymore. Unless it has lyrics that repeat too much. My other brother is more likely to judge my music if it's too romantic or dirty.

I have music snobs in my family. 😅 My brothers and I grew up as classical musicians. It's taken us all a while to deviate from classical music and whichever music our teachers and parents introduced to us.

Hmmm... I've been thinking about looking into more k-pop. Most of the k-pop I listen to are also anime music too.
Truthfully, I attended an all-girls Catholic school and there were only 5 (?) Asian girls. I didn't like people assumed I liked k-pop just because the other Asian girls in my grade did

Mmmm...*tilts head and shrugs* My...great-grandfather was Japanese. It was during wartime. He tried to lay low and even changed his name. I think my dad said his chosen name literally meant "innocent innocent." Ultimately, he went back to Japan and my great-grandmother remarried. With a few of my nanna's generation, my mom still doesn't let them know my dad is part Japanese

I admit I only started spending a lot more time with other Asians because of the pandemic. I think the last time I spent that much time with other Asians was when I was in summer school or attending my first church. My summer school during early elementary years was in Chinatown and my first church was a young church, consisting of mostly Asian, NYC college graduates that were starting families
