Looking for a book I read almost 20years ago

I've been trying to figure this one out for years. I read it back in the early 2000s but I'm pretty sure its an older (1980 or 1990s) one based on the plotline that I remember. I'm almost positive it is a Harlequin line. I think its may be a Presents or Silhouette. It was a paperback.

The H hates the h for some reason. I think it has to do with her sleeping with another man (maybe the H's brother or a married man, I'm not too sure). I do know the H hates her but wants to sleep with her. The h won't sleep with him because she knows that the H doesn't like her.

The one scene I remember clearly is towards the end.The hero is buying a house for the heroine because he thinks she is holding out for some kind of commitment (gold-digger probably). She thinks it is for them to live in together after they get married. They are out looking at houses to buy together. The h knows that the H doesn't love her and thinks poorly of her but is marrying her to get her into bed. She's hoping to change his mind once they are married. She mentions something about marriage and he gets mad and tells her he will never marry her because of the something i cant remember. He was getting the house for her to live in as his mistress. But he is so disgusted by her thinking that he would marry her that he leaves. She's upset. And then something happens where he finds out that she isn't a horrible slut or whatever it is that he thinks about her and he comes back for her.

I think it is an older one because the H and h do not sleep together until the HEA in the end.

That's all i remember, i'm afraid. I hope someone can help me find this one because it has been driving me crazy for years. I'm starting to think I imagined it. :(

Does the heroine work/volunteer in a food bank?

I think this might be a book by Jacqueline Baird, but I cannot remember which one.

I have reread alot of Jacqueline Baird and I'm pretty sure its not one of hers. Of course, I could be missing some but I've read almost everything by her. Her books are great. :)
