First time through: completed: 12/12

In the end, I gave up on my plan to try to do the whole challenge using words in the text.

1. Autumn - The Hound of the Baskervilles, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - 17/09/21
Word in the text: “We hurried through the dark shrubbery, amid the dull moaning of the autumn wind and the rustle of the falling leaves.”

2. Fall - Claw Enforcement, Sofie Ryan - 15/09/21
Fall leaves on the cover, and word in the text: “It had been the kind of fall day the state of Maine was known for.”

3. Foliage - Drowned Country, Emily Tesh - 18/09/21
Word in the text: "They were green with the foliage of an unending summer that had endured, suspended between one instant and the next, for millennia."
(Because the task doesn't specify autumn foliage!)

4. Cooler weather - Killer Comfort Food, Lynn Cahoon - 04/10/21
Author intials in the phrase

5. Halloween - An Artificial Night, Seanan McGuire - 09/09/21
Word in the text: It was Halloween, the night for Rides and sacrifices, and Tam Lin ended with a faerie Ride on Halloween night.”

6. Scarf - The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, J.R.R. Tolkien - 20/09/21
Word in the text: "He had a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, a silver scarf over which his long white beard hung down below his waist, and immense black boots.

7. Harvest - As You Like It, William Shakespeare - 05/09/21
Word in text: Act III, Scene V: "To glean the broken ears after the man that the main harvest reaps:"

8. Pumpkin spice - Cemetery Boys, Aiden Thomas - 07/10/21
First letter of the title in the phrase

9. Orange - The Giver, Lois Lowry - 22/09/21
Word in the text: "The bright orange of pumpkins being trucked in from the agricultural fields beyond the community boundary – seen in an instant, the flash of brilliant colour, but gone again, returning to their flat and hueless shade.

10. Hot chocolate - The Cats Came Back, Sofie Kelly - 27/09/21
Word in the text: "I ordered a hot chocolate and Eric’s chocolate pudding cake to go.”

11. Spooky season - Son, Lois Lowry - 22/09/21
First letter of the title in the phrase

12. Schooltime - Gone with the Whisker, Laurie Cass - 08/09/21
Author's initials in the phrase.
