I really disliked „we were liars“, even though most people absolutely love it. I think it also depends on your personal style, but I thought it was extremely boring and predictable.
I really did not like “They Both Die at The End” at all. It was so incredibly boring and I felt no connection with the characters whatsoever. The characters were also really one sided and not very thought out. The ending was underwhelming and really just annoying if you think about it. It was dragged on and had too many pointless details that had nothing to do with anything. I think this book had a lot of potential but it just didn’t give what needed to be gave. I wish I could take back the wasted hours it took to read this book
The Midnight Library was the second Matt Haig book that I read after not finishing How to Stop Time because I hated it that much, and it was just as bad. I finished it, and it had some good lines, but still not good in my opinion. I don’t like being critical of books if I can help it, but I think it’s safe to say his books aren’t for me.
I hate "Emergency contact" so much I don't even want to talk about how bad is it. I was bornig, nothing happened and I hated every single character.
“99 percent mine” by sally thronei would say sally throne is most known for her first book “the hating game”. i bought both “the hating game” and “99 percent mine”, but i made the mistake of reading “99 percent mine” first. respectfully, i think the book is all over the place. normally, i love reading about romance but this love story was just boring… i didn’t like the main characters. i didn’t even like the storyline because it just dragged. even after reading it… i honestly couldn’t even tell you the plot. i had to force myself to finish it. however, i just started “the hating game” and i like it it so far so maybe sally can redeem herself.
Definitely the goldfinch. I’ve been trying to read for almost a year now but it’s just so boring. The story isn’t necessarily bad but the problem is that the author describes things too much and the story isn’t moving at all. I mean like the book could be like 200 pages shorter if it wasn’t for the unnecessary descriptions
I was most fooled by the hype of Punk 57. I think I only finished the book because at some point I began hate reading it. Awful, mean, unlikable main characters. Cringe lyrics & guyliner. A villain with no motive. The big "plot twist" at the end was both unsatisfying and unrealistic because it was rooted in plot holes. 10/10 DNR.
I tried reading People We Meet On Vacation but I’m sorry I could not get into it. There was so much hype around it and I got it at Walmart for nine bucks but I couldn’t remake it past page 60.
I just read That Dark Infinity and was MASSIVELY disappointed. The writing style was wayyy to juvenile for me and it didn’t pair well with the darker themes for the book. Would not recommend 😓 unless you enjoy middle school reading level stuff.
i honestly couldn’t finish Lolita, i’ve gotten halfway through and it is SO boring and is drug along way too much. if your looking for an informative read this would be okay, but not as anything else. also super disturbing lol
i do not understand why people like Normal People by Sally Rooney 😐 it was soooo annoying and soooo uninteresting
i agree, normal people is the worst book i have ever red. it is really boring and the story does not go anywere
even if i dont like a book i still try and read it but normal people was so bad and i onlu got to page 40 i couldnt continue it
It ends with us, they both die at the end, normal people, the summer i turned pretty, the alchemist (aka every overrated booktok book) … the list could go on and on.
I don't particularly hate any of these books at all, but they definitely weren't as good as I thought they would be. "the ones we're meant to find", "six crimson crowns" and "criers war", probably because they were all a little slow. Dont get me wrong; they were still likeable in their own way, for me they were just a little hard to get through.
I could NOT get into the Made series. I read the Sweetest Temptation and didn't like it. I tried the Maddest Obsession and absolutely hated it. I don't know how anyone liked it tbh.

I can't even really understand what people liked about that book?
Issy wrote: "I really did not like “They Both Die at The End” at all. It was so incredibly boring and I felt no connection with the characters whatsoever. For exactly the reason you said- I just don't really feel that connected to the characters. But, the concept is so interesting.
I'm only about a quarter of the way into the book. But, I'm already feeling like I would have preferred it as an anthology or a short story collection or something? I want to hear more about the guy looking for a home for his dog or the mother who got the call about her child!
Do not read Neon gods… PLEASE! i mean i like smut a little bit (maybe a lot) but this did nothing to satisfy lmaooo It was advertised as “enemies to lovers “ but they weren’t even ever enemies. It just didn’t make sense and i would not waste my time with it
I am currently reading The Invisible life of Addie LaRue and I feel really bored… I had a high expectations because of tiktok but I really hope there is more to it :)
"People We Meet On Vacation." It’s simply boring and has noyjing exciting in it. (This is just my opinion).
corrupt by Penelope Douglas, like just everything about that book was wrong. I DNFed it the second he started kidnapping her MOTHER? or whatever, and after I was just waaay too angry at the main character bc I knew it was a hea. but the punch in the gut was when I read the summary bc I wanted to see if they actually ended together and read what she did to kai? for him to forgive the MC for doing absolutely nothing wrong! I simply cannot read Penelope Douglas books, the only one I read was bully and I don't remember anything.
(just my opinion tho, like the mother thing was just too much to hate abt this book, I couldn't move past it) :)
i wanted to love Normal People by Sally Rooney, but i DNFed it. it was not my style of book, and it was super hard to follow without their being quotation marks around the dialogue.
throne of glass, honestly that was the worst book I've ever read and I'm not a fan of sjm books at all
i recently finished to kill a kingdom and while it wasn't bad, it was really slow and you didn't get any romance between the main characters until the very end of the book. I loved the characters and it had a lot of potential but it was badly executed

Yoooo. Please listen, the first book was ass and I completely agree. Nico was so broody, he was a wattpad man. And Elena was pretty damn basic. I didn't enjoy it: 5/10. But she really redeems herself with the the third book: the darkest temptation. It is so hot and wonderful, you'll wonder how the same author wrote the first 2 characters. She realllly came through.

He bullied her the whole book and it takes .2 seconds for the FL to forgive him like what???? MAKE THE MF BEGGGGGG. I was so dissapointed. Also that threesome shit was not so hot, cause the ML didn't even like it...
The man was straight up abusive and literally tormented her. They threatened to mess with her in ways that are absolutely not okay. Also he gives small dic energy... like he tries way too hard to be THAT guy when he tormented the love of his life over a misunderstanding!
Do not read The invisible life of AddieLaRu. It was a waste of time. You can read my longest review I have ever written. Please be my friend if you hate it as much as me. Thank you
i’m currently reading dance of thieves and it through me head first into a reading slump i didn’t read for two months dead assit was soooo slow it’s starting to get better but not worth it cos half the book did NOTHING
A Touch of Jen by Beth Morgan This was really hard to read, The writing style was hard to get through and the content was not much better. This is the only book on my DNF shelf that I will never give a second chance to.
don’t read The Hating Game. the books is extremely stereotypical and belittling. the main character, Lucy, won’t shut up about how she’s 5’0” and how “small 🥺” she is compared to Joshua. to add onto that, throughout the book, Lucy is constantly objectifying Joshua about his body and muscles, even when it’s clear that he doesn’t like it and that it makes him uncomfortable. i feel like that book was made for people of older age, because the things Lucy says are so … cringy, it makes it hard to like her character. the book didn’t even feel like a true enemies to lovers romance. Lucy and Joshua kinda jumped into their weird relationship thing without any development or growth.
I HAVENT SEEN A HATED REVIEW ABOUT THIS BOOK BUTI hated ‘a court of thrones and roses’ it was slow boring and weird for me, even tho most of booktok loved it , i hated it and it has stopped me from buying the rest of the series. The writing itself was slow and boring, some parts where fast and rushed in my opinion. It could have been written better and made a but more sense. :)

What books would you not recommend reading? Which books were just so overhyped they didn't live up to the expectations?
