One is the story of the tourist who escapes and the other one is about the girl who lives in a village where she becomes a doctor and opens her own hospital? As a girl, she fell for a guy who becomes a member of the Taliban. At the end of the book, the member of the Taliban destroy her hospital. She was known to be the prettiest girl, but after that attack, she loses her beauty. Even though she is not pretty anymore, the tourist still loves her.
