My sister read this series around 6-8 years ago (2013-2015) in our school library. There is one specific book in the series she remembers- the cover showed a girl underwater. The main character (I don't know the name) is a popular trend-setter in school because she is very fashionable. She lives with her mother in America and she is from Japan, and she’s a bit of a spoiled brat. In terms of appearance, she had long black hair and a crescent moon shaped mark/scar on her face. At some point she falls asleep and finds herself in another world with the power to shapeshift. My sister mentioned that the main character had a male bodyguard or someone who helped and protected her. At some point in the book she shapeshifts into a really pretty fish, but because she looks so pretty she attracts the attention of predators. And at the end of the book when she wakes up she has a snow globe (I think it showed the world in her dream) but I don't know who gave it to her or if she just woke up with it.
