We learn Maddox Crawford was killed at the beginning of the book. Were you hoping he was secretly still alive?

I believe he is alive. That feels like an obvious twist.

I think he’s still alive and is staying hidden until they solve the mystery as to who is behind it all. Probably won’t reveal himself until the last book.

I am not 100% convinced that he is dead. I would not be surprised if he is in hiding to protect Sara, Everly and the others. He has knowledge that could put them all in danger.

I also wonder if he isn't "Deep Throat" in disguise.

I never thought about Maddox as "deep throat" when I read the book. I thought is was one of the school friends. However, after it was mentioned a couple times here,I started thinking maybe.

I agree with everyone. Mad is alive and in hiding to protect Sara. There is some big, mysterious something going on which makes me want to read the other books.

Anita that's me as well. That feeling that Maddox is still alive is what's keep me wanting to read to the end.
