A Burnt-Out Case by Graham Greene – 3 Stars (Rounded up)

This is the second novel by Graham Greene that I have read this month that I felt a bit disappointed by. I didn’t really know much about this book going in to it, and so I wasn’t expecting such a detailed take on faith and religion. The main character travels to a leper colony in Africa run by the Catholic church where he makes himself useful after feeling disillusioned with his life and work as a famous architect. The book started very slowly, and only got going properly about 60% in. I didn’t connect to any of the characters, and the setting and characters were all quite gloomy and depressing
