You're welcome. Also, all publishers provide an ISBN - that is how the bookseller tracks the book sales and pays the publisher. Some e-books may not have an ISNB (although they should), but in that case, they at least have to have an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) to sell it through Amazon (only). [Unless the e-book is only being sold in pdf format through the publisher and/or author website.]

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) some distributors give free ISBNs. Check Hugh Howey's Authors Earnings report on ISBNs... http://www.hughhowey.com/the-january-...
I'm an indie author and I either publish with the free ISBN provided by the distributors (Amazon's CreateSpace, Smashwords, Kobo), or don't put one.
A traditional publisher will also provide the cover, so if you want to keep control of that, you should go indie. Check Dean Wesley Smith and Kristine Kathryn Rusch's sites for everything on the indie publishing way! :)
