Beverly | 1078 comments A friend shared this challenge with me today and I thought some of you might also be interested.

I am going to try to keep up. :)

the ‪#‎ReadSoulLit‬ Challenge is a "photo" challenge, but because I've given away so many of my books, I'm resorting to the book cover. Participants are encouraged to tweet and Instagram using the hashtag (I don't do either, so I'm posting on FB). Anyway, the idea is to follow the theme of the day - one book for each day in February - here's the list:

1. Strong Female Character
2. A Novel About Family
3. Young Adult/Middle Grade
4. Poignant (Auto)Biography
5. A Historical Fiction
6. Released in the Last Year
7. Last Novel You Read
8. Should Be a Classic
9. Beautiful Edition
10. A Black Book
11. Favorite Toni Morrison novel
12. Most Expensive Book
13. A Must Read
14. A Book for Lovers
15. Novel Set Abroad
16. As Good as Chocolate
17. Best Movie Adaptation
18. Longest Read
19. Want to Read
20. Best Cover
21. Would Give as a Gift
22. Set Where You Live
23. Favorite Poem
24. Children's Book
25. Favorite Male Character
26. Funny Read
27. Favorite Line/Paragraph
28. Favorite Author

Mocha Girl (mochagirl) | 35 comments ‪#‎ReadSoulLit‬ Photo Challenge - Day 1: Strong Female Character:

My pick - Aminata (Meena) Diallo from The Book of Negroes / Somebody Knows My Name by Lawrence Hill. Her story chronicles the inhumanity of the chattel slave trade and details a heart-breaking 360 degree journey - from her life as young child in an African village, her capture and Middle Passage crossing, enslavement in America, relocation to Nova Scotia, return to Africa (Freetown, Sierra Leone), and partnering with abolitionists in England. She was strong; possessed a resilient spirit and fortitude beyond measure. I can't wait to see the BET adaptation of this novel and can only hope it is good as the novel.

The Book of Negroes

Excellent choice - and yes, can't wait to see adaptation of the small screen.

Anastasia Kinderman | 942 comments I don't think I can fully follow the challenge but I'm intrigued. Thanks for posting, Beverly!

Anastasia Kinderman | 942 comments Wait, do we have to read a book a day or just post covers...?
