My favorite colors are probably light pink and silver. Probably because iridescent things are my actual favorite, but that's not a true color and silver/pink make me think of that.
I'm working nightshift tonight and have a bit of downtime so I started listening to my Peril in Paperback audiobook.
Michelle wrote: "Just a note on the spreadsheet: the totals for Deidre seem to be missing on the tracking sheet. Also, with the wild cards there seem to be some headers, explaining what numbers mean, missing. ....."Thanks for letting me know. I believe I have fixed it.
@HealersTsk, tsk. Looks as though some of you sneaked over to the TRACKING sheet and chose a color without giving a story
We want stories! We want stories! We want stories! Ha ha.
oshizu wrote: "...But am I meant to use "my" color to highlight completed prompts on the leftmost column on the Tracking page? Or, do we all use the same color ..."I wasn't sure about this until I tried it.
Now I think we would like the visual more if the leftmost column of prompts is also highlighted.
"Scrolling To ViewThe different sections of the TRACKING spreadsheet can make it difficult to scan up and down. You can expand or contract the different sections by clicking the minus (-) or plus (+) in the left edge of the sheet."
When you are finished, as a courtesy to the other team members, open the collapsed section back up. If you can not see one of the sections, expand it by click on the left edge plus sign (+)
I've added this "instruction to message 158 with the other instructions.
@Texual HealersAs fate would have it, El just appeared! She apologizes for missing our messages.
AND she has been assigned to Tome Raiders so she still gets to play. I'm happy about that.

Almeta wrote: "When recording audio time, do we record hours and minutes? Or do we round up?"
Trisha wrote: Almeta, please record in hours. For example, say your audio count for the day is 2 hours 19 minutes, then:
2 hours 19 minutes = 120 (2*60) + 19 = 139 minutes
In hours, 139/60 = 2.31666.. rounding up to 2.32, so please record 2.3 in your tracking sheet.
I’ve rearranged some of my books on the spreadsheet. I am still covering all of my assigned tasks and my alternate prompts, but there are a couple that have been switched. I’ve made notations on the sheet but didn’t know how to edit the cells for the alternate prompts. Sorry to switch things up, but I’ve been in a reading slump lately so I wanted to make sure to go for books I’m excited to read. :)
Thank you, Almeta, for providing an example for how to fill in the Tracking page with a completed book.I've finished my first book but am not sure why there are multiple rows for each date of our marathon.
If it's okay, I'll just be using one row per date, to minimize my time spent on the spreadsheet.
On the Planning page, I highlighted the prompt I completed since it's a single-book task. Please change it to whichever color we should be using. I used light green only because any of the light (row 2) colors are easy for me to read.

I'm planning on completing 3 books today, so I need 3 lines for each book. Also, I often read more than 1 book a day.
I thought that someone else may be in a similar situation (especially on the 25th), so I create an extra line for each date.
Ah, okay. Just wanted to be sure and fill in the spreadsheet right. :DI also have 2 more books I can finish today...
Regina wrote: "I’ve rearranged some of my books on the spreadsheet. I am still covering all of my assigned tasks and my alternate prompts, but there are a couple that have been switched. I’ve made notations on th..."Hi Regina, I "cleaned up" the spreadsheet to reflect your changes.
Oh and I've made your "favorite color yellow", since you haven't responded. (It can always be changed.)
I think it is a good idea to make changes for a more enjoyable read, if you find one that qualifies. Enjoy.

AND I did change the highlight of the finished book/name cell.
I see that my instruction may not have been clear enough. I have changed the wording.

Don't forget to enter your number of pages or hours read!
(White Teeth?)

I guess I could have left a single line and added my 3 books together. Duh! :P

Thank you for the note.
I'm planning to wait until the end of my reading today.

That’s fine. I don’t actually have one favorite color, so yellow works for me. :)

I'll fill in the pages I read each morning (and mark the page I start on that day on the next row), since I often read in my bed just before sleeping and I don't want to go on my phone in-between those two :). I also already filled in the audio-book column for me, since I don't listen to audiobooks :p (I get distracted easily then and feel like I'm missing so much of the book...)
Sorry if I’ve missed this, but on the tracking page, do we keep a running cumulative total, or just list each day’s totals separately?

Regina wrote: "Sorry if I’ve missed this, but on the tracking page, do we keep a running cumulative total, or just list each day’s totals separately?"After the fact, I've come to think that the sheets were designed for each team member to enter the days cumulated total.
I originally felt comfortable keeping track of each separate book's data. I plan to change that though.
So I think just each day's cumulative total should be entered.
I hope everyone will be comfortable with that.
oshizu wrote: "Wow, audio book listeners already earned our first (of many) Wild Card already today!"I see two wildcard now and already 6 prompts completed.. Woow we are going fast! :)
Good morning all! Have a fun day reading! :). I hope to finish my first book today or tomorrow.
Also, I was looking at Deidre's column of read pages and it said 197 at the bottom, but I couldn't find that number in her column. So I found it was written in white. I've written it in red now, because I don't know if that is correct? :)
Almeta, have you really listened 21.3 hours of audio books on the first day 0_0. Please don't forget to sleep! :o
Michelle wrote: "Almeta, have you really listened 21.3 hours of audio books on the first day 0_0. Please don't forget to sleep! :o"lol! That will be the only day for THAT madness!
I finished a book already started, reading at 12:30 for 3H 46M
A couple hours nap and then @
6:00 – 2:12 pm 2nd book for 8H 12M
lunch then book 3 from
3:00 – 12:20 pm 9H 20M
Sleeeep!
That is real madness! That is a full day of reading.. I don't think I've ever spend 21.3 hours of a day reading xD
Michelle wrote: "That is real madness! That is a full day of reading.. I don't think I've ever spend 21.3 hours of a day reading xD"When I first joined Goodreads, my sister and I would read together, keeping each other awake, for reading marathons called Topplers. (Toppling books off your shelf.)
Here is my (and others) advice on how to win: How to Win a Toppler
It has been a long time since I have done this.
Basically I'm over it!☺
That sounds REALLY intense :p. I have just read for like 2 hours at once and that is something that has been quite some time. Always busy. I'm glad I joined this readathon to make time to read :). I just finished the first book! (Okay, I may have been distracted by my phone a few minutes, but not too long!) :p
I've finished my first book, The Lost Apothecary, and updated the spreadsheet.I'll be starting The Final Revival of Opal & Nev tonight.
I should finish my first book tonight or tomorrow morning. It takes me a while to finish an audiobook because I usually only listen when I walk my dogs. Maybe I'll try to get in some other listening time on this one. It's Kazuo Ishiguro's newest, Klara and the Sun and so far it is really good. I'm relieved because I hated The Buried Giant.
Goodmorning!Well done everyone :). I don't think it is a problem if it takes you a while to finish something @Regina. We have two weeks, so no pressure!
Have a fun day (reading)!
I was working my couple of random night shifts at work the last couple of days so it didn’t leave me a ton of reading time. I’m awake now and will be on a more normal schedule the rest of the readathon so I’m ready to get more time in!
Ziggy wrote: "Once again internet down for several hours, on the positive I probably would not have finished another book, granted it was a short book"Are you having severe weather where you are?
I can't think of anything more frustrating than internet outages.
Regina wrote: "I’ve completed my first book, Staying On, by Paul Scott, for a book with a party."Great!
I've updated the PLANNING spreadsheet with your information. I see that you have already updated the TRACJING page.
Enjoy your next book!
@Ziggy: Not fun.. BUT, time to read! :)I also had more time to read yesterday then foreseen. I had a practical session the whole day, but apparently there was an hour lunch-break inbetween. Luckily I took my book with me, so I could read that hour while eating my lunch. :) I'm going way quicker through these books then expected :p
Michelle wrote: "....... I'm going way quicker through these books then expected :pi..."When you're engrossed in a book you stick with it longer. You must have picked the correct books!
Trying to get a lot of cleaning done today, but listening to my audiobook while I’m at it. Hoping to finish Peril in Paperback today.

Yes! I really needed something quick-reading and not too difficult and the Penumbra's bookstore book is perfect for that. I also tend to pick up my book now where I would have done something else on other days, since I'm in this readathon (which was exactly my goal; I want to read more often instead of doing other things like watching youtube or just scrolling facebook) and that makes such a difference!
I've finished The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and updated to the spreadsheet for "a book being read by someone else during the Read-a-Thon".Still working my way through The Final Revival of Opal & Nev.
I'm 70 pages from finishing this next book, so I'll probably finish it today or tomorrow :). That will be my second book and I will have one more to go, before I'll have to decide what to read after :p.
I finished my second book 'Het geheim van Penumbra's boekenwinkel: 24 uur open' by Robin Sloan. I added it in the spreadsheet. :)

Doing great Kristina.
