Nice! Now that you saw my example, I've removed it to avoid confusion.
Almeta wrote: "@ Textual HealersOkay everybody, we only have 4 prompts not assigned.

LOL, WIld Cards are for wimps!
With only 4 prompts left, I'm sure we can finish all the prompts without using a single one.
I own a book that fits the bibliophile prompt, so if any of you want to read a book that fits one of my assigned prompts, we can consult Almeta & Ziggy?
We also still haven't heard something from El, did we? That would fill another two prompts maybe if we can switch it around so it accommodates the right prompts :). I don't think I'll be able to read any more than three books without neglecting my studies, but we'll see :). You guys get me so motivated! Why would we use wild cards if we don't need them, hehehe. But it's always nice to have them in case we DO need them.
Michelle wrote: "I don't think I'll be able to read any more than three books without neglecting my studies, but we'll see :). You guys get me so motivated!"No, neglecting your studies is not good.
On the other hand, if you had to read a book for one of your classes next week, you could also use it for the "read when you're 25 yo" prompt. Just kidding (maybe).
Ziggy wrote: "I looked at my page count and added another book. Bitter Medicine. I added to the age 25 prompt. Oh, I guess that's what you meant. :D
I'm getting off Goodreads now. I want to have made some progress on three books before the readathon starts.
oshizu wrote: ".....I own a book that fits the bibliophile prompt, so if any of you want to read a book that fits one of my assigned prompts, we can consult Almeta & Ziggy?."
I could take
23. Read the 12th book on your TBR list. Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports #12
Which would take away your Rich People Problems
What say you?
Anyone able to read a book which has been translated into 25+ languages?I could then move The Bookseller of Kabul to bookworm/bookshop, et al.
oshizu wrote: "....LOL, WIld Cards are for wimps! With only 4 prompts left, I'm sure we can finish all the prompts without using a single one...."
OKAY!
Let's keep searching for a way. ;D
Michelle wrote: "We also still haven't heard something from El, did we? I've sent invitations on the sign up thread and sent private messages, without response.
I have made an appeal for a new member in the sign up thread. We'll see what happens.
@Texual HealersWhile everyone is waiting,
I need you to consider and tell me "What is your favorite color and why?"
Mine is green. Because I am vain and like how my eyes seem green when I wear that color. They are actually grey with yellow around the pupil. BUT I listed them as green on my driver's license. (Wouldn't you think they check that, since it is supposed be legal ID?) (view spoiler)
Ziggy wrote: "From message 58 of 25k Readathon Central“Help! .I have made an appeal for a new member in the sign up thread. We'll see what happens."
Unless El shows up, we won't have an active 9th member as readathon signups were closed last week and nobody's asked to be allowed late sign-up since.
Almeta wrote: "Anyone able to read a book which has been translated into 25+ languages?I could then move The Bookseller of Kabul to bookworm/bookshop, et al."
I'd planned to read Ian McEwan's Amsterdam for that prompt. As of this moment, I'm prepared to check off two prompts on the readathon's first day.
I also posted a link on Readathon Central to a wikipedia entry listing books translated into 30 or more languages.

Almeta,
Sorry I missed your previous post until now.
Today I read 430 pages of the 543-page Rich People Problems already, so I'll complete that prompt on March 25th.
If you move Bookseller of Kabul, you could assign me Amsterdam for the translation prompt or I also can do the bibliophile/bookshop prompt.
Ziggy wrote: "..So Michelle is doing a book you wished to read at 25We will need a book someone read at 25"
Without looking at our team spreadsheet first, I believe Michelle qualifies to fill two prompts:
*A book you wish to read at 25 (b/c she added the book before her 25th birthday)
*A book you read at 25 (any book she reads after her 25th birthday before she turns 26).
Ziggy wrote: "...So Michelle is doing a book you wished to read at 25Almeta, I assume that your book was for a book you recommend to your 25 self.
Based on that me reading Bitter medicine won’t work. I’m going to remove from spreadsheet
We will need a book someone read at 25...."
Yes, The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating is a re-read of a book that probably would have made me see how precious my health is and to empathize with others less healthy.

There is one person who expressed an interest.

Could you link me to their post? I checked the Sign-Up thread but didn't see any new sign-ups.
Ziggy wrote: "I put back Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore for book about books. Which puts 3 books there."Why isn't your original logic valid?

Yeah, I posted that in our message 97. There is also another helpful link there which could help by entering a book title to see if it is listed in their translation database. (If you want to share that also.)
oshizu wrote: "......I'd planned to read Ian McEwan's Amsterdam for that prompt. I..."OR not?
Does Amsterdam fit the bibliophile/bookshop prompt?
I think we need to move Kabul and put Amsterdam in its place.
Nevermind. I just read your message further along

Brittany sign-up
Thanks for the link, Ziggy & Almeta.Since SarahKat & Trisha are also hosting this readathon, please wait while I run the idea of adding Brittany to our team.
I'll post here as soon as I hear back from them. Sorry for the red tape.
Brittany is now a Textual Healer, though I leave Almeta to share the news with her.I've replaced El's name with Brittany's on Tracking page.
I'll also contact El about their new team.
I don't really follow what is going on anymore, but I'll just wait until tomorrow when we start the readathon and then I'll see what is happening. I'm continuing 'zwart', since I'm over half already and I most often read just one book at a time :p. Just to make sure; does the readathon start 25/3 at 00.01 in your own timezone? (because I feel like you're all in a different timezone, since you're very active when I'm sleeping :p).@ Oshizu; hehehehe, I'll just finish up my book about human brain imaging then XD. [just joking, it is way too difficult :p]
@ Almeta; My favorite colour is blue, prefereably the lighter kind. I don't know why, but it may be because when I was young(er), my favourite color was pink. And then I started to understand the pink is for girls, blue is for boys stereotype. And then I changed my favourite color to blue because I wanted to be a rebel? :p I don't know. Blue also seems to fit me well considering clothes. I like wearing something blue.
Also, I am sad that my reading challenge says that I am one book behind schedule. With this readathon I'm going to sprint forward with that reading goal, hehe. :)
Michelle wrote: "....Blue also seems to fit me well considering clothes. I like wearing something blue..."During the period in my life when I traveled, I collected local blue glazed pottery. (It was better than refrigerator magnets!) I have quite a collection from all over the country.
Ziggy wrote: "Almeta wrote: "Ziggy wrote: "I put back Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore for book about books. Which puts 3 books there."Why isn't you original logic valid?
"I looked at my page ..."
Gotcha. Everything is good.
@BrittanyJust as Ziggy has offered any of the assigned tasks.
I am offering any of mine as well. I would welcome some relief from so many prompts!
Also "Read a book about making new friends" is still needed.
Hi everyone! My name is Brittany and I’m a late addition to the team. I am 30 years old and am an ER nurse in the Cleveland, OH area. I’m very excited to join you because I’m a little behind on my reading goal for the year, so I’m hoping this will give me a little boost. I was looking through my TBR and books that I wanted to read this year and I think Bunny will work for new friends even though it’s kind of horrorish. Still new friends. Let me know what you guys think. I snagged the ebook from the library.
I am currently reading The Fifth Season and have over 100 pages left so I’m going to see if that can fit anywhere.
I was planning on reading Peril in Paperback for my pop sugar challenge this year and it definitely fits the bibliophile prompt.
Welcome Brittany!!!!!Brittany wrote: "I was looking through my TBR and books that I wanted to read this year ..."
I assigned The Fifth Season to "a book by an author who has written 25 or more books."
Peril in Paperback to the "bibliophile prompt"
Bunny to "new friends"
Perfect choices.
Thank you for jumping right in!
What's your favorite color and why?
@Texual HealersBrittany has saved the day.
All Tasks have been assigned!
Still will have Wild Cards in case of emergency.
Everybody ready?
Don't forget to tell us your favorite color and why.
Here are the instructions for reporting your finished Tasks:On the Planning page:
Post each book you are currently reading in a separate column as follows:
*Book title (your name) at top of the column
*Possible Fits: place an "x" in every prompt your book fits. Your "x" may be changed later to "Assigned" or removed with a note to indicate that it did qualify but was allocated elsewhere.
*When you finish the book, highlight, with Light Pink, your book title/name cell. Change the Word "Assigned" back to an "X" and highlight that cell as well.
On the Tracking page
*Find your name at the top of one of the columns. You will be adding your pages read/hours listened by day and any books you've finished that fits a prompt.
*When you finish a book, add the book tile in your column in the row of the appropriate prompt. Highlight that prompt and title with your favorite color.
*Be sure to type Completed in the rightmost "Completed?" column so the spreadsheet will include your book in the total prompts completed.
Scrolling To View
The different sections of the spreadsheet can make it difficult to scan up and down. You can expand or contract the different sections by clicking the minus (-) or plus (+) in the left edge of the sheet.
Do the Math
Please record in hours. For example, say your audio count for the day is 2 hours 19 minutes, then:
2 hours 19 minutes = 120 (2*60) + 19 = 139 minutes
In hours, 139/60 = 2.31666.. rounding up to 2.32, so please record 2.3 in your tracking sheet.
I have two favorite colors. Orange has been my favorite color most of my life, but burgundy is also a favorite color for clothing and home decor.
Michelle wrote: "..Just to make sure; does the readathon start 25/3 at 00.01 in your own timezone?.."Yes, start in your own timezone on 25 Mar
Similar to Michelle, I'm also a bit lost in the prompt swaps and what not, but I am not married to any of my choices. Is there a prompt you'd like me to swap to? I'm open for anything!
I think we're set to complete all the prompts now if we all read what we planned to? :) that's what I got from the last messages. Otherwise, I'll leave the planning for our leader and assistant :p
For me; less then 4 hours till the start! I'm planning to make some progress in the book I'm reading now today, so I can hopefully finish it off quickly after tomorrow :)
Nikki wrote: "Similar to Michelle, I'm also a bit lost in the prompt swaps and what not, but I am not married to any of my choices. Is there a prompt you'd like me to swap to? Ziggy and I may swap tasks around but you will still read the same book.
At this point I see no reason for any more swapping. It will only be necessary when it is discovered that some book can't be read by a team member. (Emergencies, Availability, Unable to continue reading a bad book, etc.)
Michelle wrote: "For me; less then 4 hours till the start! I'm planning to make some progress in the book I'm reading now today, so I can hopefully finish it off quickly after tomorrow :)"Good beginning strategy.
My favorite color is a fuji-iro (the color of wisteria), which is a light lavender in English, I guess. I've always loved the look of wisteria blooming from overhead trellises in summer.I'd like to keep my tracking page color as is, though, since I have a personal column to track my completed books.
But am I meant to use "my" color to highlight completed prompts on the leftmost column on the Tracking page? Or, do we all use the same color?
oshizu wrote: "My favorite color is a fuji-iro (the color of wisteria), which is a light lavender in English, I guess. I've always loved the look of wisteria blooming from overhead trellises in summer. ..."Wisteria is a beautiful plant. Some of them smell wonderful too.
Michelle, it's already readathon in the Netherlands!Hoe gaat het met jou?
(Me trying to pretend like I'm Dutch so I can start, too, but I must actually wait 6-1/2 more hours....)
Brittany, welcome!
Wheeeeeee!!!!! Sorry, I just got really excited to start!! Can't wait until tomorrow, then let the reading begin!
I don't have one favorite color, but I'll go with "forest green" for the spreadsheet since it matches my college color and my NFL team's color.I'm excited to get started tomorrow. :)
At last! It's 12:30 on the 25th of March here. I'm going to finished my last 100 plus pages of The Dog Master: A Novel of the First Dog and go to bed. At Chapter 55 there are 3 hours remaining.
I plan on reading two more books tomorrow.
GoodReading everyone!
Woohoo! For me the readathon has started almost 8 hours ago and I haven't started it yet :p. I wasn't as eager as Almeta (I was actually exhausted yesterday) :p. Is it okay if I put in the tracker page a number between brackets for myself (I'll delete it when I fill in how much I've read) so I can refer to which page I started that day? :p.I'm going to start reading now during breakfast, but unfortunately I don't think I'll have THAT much time for reading today :p. But it will be okay :)
Just a note on the spreadsheet: the totals for Deidre seem to be missing on the tracking sheet. Also, with the wild cards there seem to be some headers, explaining what numbers mean, missing. There are counting numbers behind it, but I have no clue what they mean :p@ Ozhiru: Yes! We are earlier, but that also means the fun will be finished earlier for me! However, your readathon must have started now as well! Have fun! :)
