Please check in here and let us know if you’re reading or planning to read Dawn by Octavia E. Butler, book 1 in the Xenogenesis trilogy.

NO spoilers in this topic thread, please!

I am starting this thread a little early because my husband and I have appointments tomorrow and I likely wouldn’t get to it till evening. Better early than late!

I will be starting it after I finish my current book—by midweek, I hope.

I read this one several years ago and will try and re-read so it's fresh in my memory for the discussion and for the sequels, which I never got around to!

Random (rand0m1s) | 1277 comments I've got the omnibus and will try to join in, but given circumstances, I can't make promises. Short stories seem to be my limit at the moment. That and marathoning Bob's Burgers.

Oh and ice packs are the greatest invention ever!

Hope to start tonight.

Rose | 8 comments I have just started and am delighted with the world-building as well as the challenges faced by the two different races. This is the 2nd book I've read by Octavia E. Butler -- she certainly goes beyond what many other authors in the genre do.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I finished the omnibus last year and loved this book. It's a little slow going at first, but it really gets going when they get back to earth. Did you guys realize that someone has optioned this for a series? I believe it's the gal who made the Wrinkle in Time film .

I loved the aliens. They are so unique. It's such a unique story and the worldbuilding is great. I hope you all enjoy it.

Alan Lewis | 0 comments I am several chapters in. The trilogy Kindle version has been hanging around my TBR stack for months.

Yeah, I saw that when I was googling the book. It was a miniseries for Amazon. The article was dated about 4 years ago, which means that the project is probably not getting off the ground.

In the interview, the producer heavily implies that she would rather be filming Kindred, which, in my opinion, would make a much better movie.
