I'm reading the book now with a friend I'm wanted on her to get to chapters 15. But if you read it is it just me or she kinda meaning a little mean to these guys?

I haven’t read the series yet and my best friend is urging me to. I’ve read that the age group is between 13 and 17 and my concern is, that I’m a bit too old to enjoy it (I’m 19)😬
Could anyone give me a quick review and tell me if it’s worth reading?😅
