My Amma and Paati used to do that with Malayalam, but I learned to figure out what they were saying, since Tamil and Malayalam are very similar. Now they have switched to Hindi.

My dad studied civil engineering in Sydney and got a PhD, my mom studied accounting in New Zealand and got a Masters. Umm, they moved back to Malaysia (where they met) because of family problems and yeah, that's pretty much it.
