Hi all, apologies for the silence. I have been on holiday for the week and am back home tomorrow My magic and kick ass heroine books have been read and I just need to post the completions.
My urban fantasy book was finished less than 24 hours after the genre was drawn and the review posted a day or so later. It is also collated on my update post on page 1
I have started my alpha male book but it’s been slow going. This being a combination of being not a favoured genre and also being on vacation with a 9 year old so not as much reading time as I m8ght like. Though I did get one morn8ng to myself to read b6 the pool :-)
I am back tomorrow and will update us then

Review
I know I'm on a nonhuman theme this round. In this book Arawl, a werewolf, can only look human on the 3 nights of the full moon...and he visited earth on Halloween. Great costume comments aside he gets fisky with Ana the barmaid and ends up mated the following morning.
It's not the typical werewolf story. They go on a quest to sever their bond and investigate females disappearances. Lots of danger and Jinx, Ana's friend and sidekick trickster witch, is a laugh a minute.
Third installment is better than the previous ones.

Thoughts:
This was fun! I picked it (library) for the challenge, and the copy available was a 4-in-one. I enjoy "new" types of vampires and so on, and this world has a lot of variations on the standard supes, all overlaid on the actual USA.
There are vampire mates, end of a centuries-long-peace, genetic manipulation and a nasty virus, that only affects certain chromosomes. And there is an HEA with a to-be-continued that pulls one back for more.
Why the half star? Well, some bits still felt a bit choppy/clunky in the story, but having read the next two in the series at this point, it's maybe a first-novel or start-of-the-series thing. I'm pleased I picked it up and am looking forward to several more stories!

Review:
This book took me a while to get in to. I am not quite sure whether that was because its been a long time since i read book 2 of the series or the book itself but i felt like i had to really push to keep going at the beginning.
It got better as the book went on but I found myself getting annoyed by the MC and frustrated by some of the decisions she made. This probably had something to do with some of the plot points you could see coming a mile away s it was doubly frustrating when she made the choice that led you down the predicted path.
That being said, I found it better towards the end and finished the booking fully intending to continue on with the series
I didn't enjoy this one as much as others from the series but it still gets a solid 3 1/2 stars

READ: The Culling Trials 2 by K.F. Breene finished 041521, 4 stars
REVIEW:
2nd book in the series and it picks up right where the 1st book ended in a cliffhanger. Wild's crew is bonding and continuing to fight their way thru culling trails. The danger is increasing and Wild's ruse of being her brother is pretty much blown and someone is trying to kill her. The action is picking up, it's a fast paced read with fun characters and writing that just pulls you in to the story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
COMPLETION POST KICK-ASS HEROINE
READ: The Culling Trials 3 by K.F. Breene finished 041721, 4 stars
REVIEW:
3rd book in the series and the culling trails are coming to an end. Students are missing and the danger has increased. Wild is trying to get her crew thru the last of the trails and solve the mystery of missing students. Again great action, great writing, great characters, some secrets are revealed and Wild continues to show us why she is a bad-ass.
This is the end of the culling trials but only the beginning of the adventure that waits at Shadowspell academy. Looking forward to seeing what Wild and her crew get into next.
