A piece of archaeological pottery called ‘Samian ware’ is talked about in Book 1. Samian ware was fine red Ancient Roman pottery with glossy surface and was a luxury item, especially in Gaul (France). Examples of it can be found in the desktop case on the Balcony of the Lower Gallery.
