V.R. Tapscott | 3 comments I've been reading a few, but the one that sticks out in my mind is The Earth Concurrence, at least this week. Julia's "Space Janitor" series is fun. I guess this is a section telling you what I'm reading though, not what you should be. :-)

Ah yes, the first part of the month was taken up with the My Luck Twisted Luck series. It takes a little patience to get through the first third of the first book, and it's a really long buildup. Patience grasshopper, patience.

And the Farshore Chronicles, wow, lots of fun there. Farshore Chronicles Box Set 1-3

Ok ok, no more. :-)

I'd be optimistic. He's a fast writer!"

Very true! It's also split up into two separate story arcs that spread over 5 books (plus some novellas) each, so there's only one novel left for the first arc to be complete. I think it's pretty safe to start now. :-)

Andrea | 3567 comments Finished Fate of Flames, actually kind of enjoyed that freebie and will have to see when libraries are accessible again if they have the rest of the series, some interesting mysteries to resolve.

Still working on the Legends of the Ring, going to take another week to finish, but I am filling in a lot of gaps of knowledge of the Norse mythologies. I really only knew a bit about three gods (Odin, Thor, Loki), the rest, only a few more by name, along with a smattering of other things like the monstrous children of Loki, the pending Ragnarok and so forth. So it's been an interesting read so far. I mean I found out that clouds are the brains of a deceased giant! And a weird note that Asgard is the same as Troy.

The book is ridiculously heavy though, I have to put it on a pillow and sit cross-legged in front of it since it's not only too heavy to hold in one's hands it is too heavy even for one's lap!

Sounds like the giant books they always read from in the Shining Force series. 😊

Tony Calder (tcsydney) | 1081 comments I finally finished Forward the Foundation. It took a ridiculously long time to read for a book with only 300+ pages. After having finished this and Prelude to Foundation, I would say that they really weren't necessary and don't add that much to the Foundation series.

Andrea | 3567 comments The Legends of the Ring is split in two parts, one the Scandinavian legends, the other the Germanic ones. I think that's a good place to take a break, especially as all the names are going to change in the second part even if the stories are similar and they were hard enough to keep straight when they were consistent!

Now to relax with a regular fantasy - The Thousand Names by Django Wexler. I've read this one before (in fact I won an autographed copy through Goodreads!!!) but I'm already enjoying the first 50 pages the second time around.

It's an amazing series, but it got interrupted when the group read the first Powder Mage book a while back, and I didn't want to mix up two gunpowder series at the same time. The Powder Mage series had only three books and finished publishing first so I decided to read that one through without interruption. So I waited for Wexler to finish his Shadow Campaigns and now I can read it straight through, re-reading the first three over again to refresh my memory :)

It fits my yearly theme 'cause it has demons in it, which is why I saved it for this year instead of last year when I was doing the "complete series I started".

3rd book in the Cycle of Galand series!

Tony Calder (tcsydney) | 1081 comments I made some progress in both Norse Myths and Rogues. I have started The Eye of Ra. As the protagonists are a brother and sister who have just finished Grade 4 and Grade 6 respectively, I expect this will fill the Middle Grade Bingo slot.

Pierre Hofmann | 211 comments I finished Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie. I'll continue later with the next book in the First Law world, but for now I'll be starting City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett. This should keep me busy for a while.

Timothy | 7 comments I finally read Jack Vance - Tales of the Dying Earth, all four novels. What delightful fun!
