Considering that Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman was first published twenty-six years ago, I am really late to the party on this one, but I do have a DVD of the movie to watch, as well as the two prequels to read, so I thought I'd go in order of publication. Very entertaining, and I'm looking forward to more.5★s

There's one thing I look forward to at the start of every month: the new post on Alexander McCall Smith's Story Calendar https://www.alexandermccallsmith.co.u.... Sometimes it's an extract from one of his recent books, sometimes it's a short story, usually only a few pages long. This month it's Under The Acacia, a little dose of Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi. It's a case of getting much more than you pay for. 5★

Robert Dugoni's eight thriller in his Tracy Crosswhite series is an engrossing police procedural.

I loved Trent Dalton's first book (Boy Swallows Universe), which was largely autobiographical. There's no question he can write. All Our Shimmering Skies is good, but I was spoiled by what I know he is capable of.

The Ends of the Earth, also titled Anywhere for You is the second novel by British author, Abbie Greaves, a moving and thought-provoking read that doesn't resort to a Hollywood ending.4.5★s

Steven Weber is absolutely the perfect choice for narrating the audio version of the first book in Harlan Coben's new series, Win. 4.5★s

My review of Solo Viola: A Post-Exotic Novel by Antoine Volodinehttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
An interesting novel from an emerging Australian author, I greatly enjoyed this book. It touches on an area of Australian history which I knew very little about.
Stone Sky Gold Mountain by Mirandi Riwoe. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
As always, the laugh-out-loud potential of Mick Herron’s work obliges me to issue a warning: best not read while eating or drinking; those with continence issues should take precautions; also reading in the quiet carriage on public transport may disturb other travellers. Those who know me know I read while walking: there were moments I had to stop walking to recover from doubled-over laughter while reading #7 in the Slough House/Jackson Lamb series, Slough House.

For the audio version of Two Steps Forward by Graeme Simsion and Anne Buist, I think that Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood and Jerome Pride are inspired choices to narrate this entertaining book.5★s

I just enjoyed Kopp Sisters on the March by Amy Stewart, number five in the series. It's April 1917, just before America enters WW1, and the sisters are off to army camp with another colourful character.

I just DNFéd Solaris by Stanisław Lem1*, because GR will not let me give negative stars. I disliked it so much it seems to have put me off sc-fi or reading in general. Temporarily, I am sure.
You don't have to read my review. It was basically a venting session.

While I love Kerry Armstrong's expressive reading of Molly and Pim and the Millions of Stars, the drawback is that the listener misses all Martine Murray's wonderful illustrations, so maybe young readers would enjoy it as a read-along with the print book. 4.5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My short review for a short fantasy novella (for the Autumn challenge).
The Graveyard Shift by Darynda Joneshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm sadly nearing the end of Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. Number 15 is A Better Man. Freezing spring floods threaten Three Pines and Montreal.

Summer Brother by Dutch author Jaap Robben was a good read and has just been longlisted for the 2021 International Booker Prize.
