Megan | 2 comments Hi everyone, I'm Megan and it's nice to meet you all!

- I'm from Scotland in the UK
- mostly I like to read thrillers, mysteries and contemporary fiction and sometimes horror!
- I found this group while I was scrolling through goodreads haha
- my goal for this year is to read 40 books!

message 403: by Neda (new)

Neda | 2 comments Hi everyone!
I'm Neda and I'm delighted to find this group! :)
I'm from Atlantic Canada and I'm soon entering my second year of university.
I love reading contemporary fiction and I occasionally enjoy YA, fantasy, non-fiction, and memoirs.
I decided to join the reading book challenge because I would like to return to reading more regularly :)
My reading challenge is 24 books for this year (1 book every 2 weeks). I think its a practical goal for me since I would like to start with tiny steps :)

Please feel free to message me if you are also interested in contemporary fiction or YA. I would be happy to make some friends to discuss my readings with :)

Best of luck, everyone!
Neda

- nonfiction (feminism, politics, race, gender), young adult, LGBTQA+, short stories, contemporary fiction, true crime, and children's books.
- searching around goodreads for "read with me" groups.
- after a couple years of hardly reading at all due to the strain of academia, i set a modest goal this year of 25 books, and am hopeful to exceed it.

Seye Cadmus (seyecadmus) | 1 comments Hi everyone!
My name is Seye, I’m 24 and live in The Netherlands. I came across this group while scrolling around on Goodreads and thought it would be fun to meet other booklovers from around the world! Currently I’ve set a goal on reading 30 books this year. I love fiction, non-fiction (topics such as feminism, race, politics, gender) Dutch and English literature, fantasy, mythology and manga. A few of my favorite writers are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Peter Buwalda, Madeline Miller and Haruki Murakami.

I look forward to learn about new books and to share and read tips!

I'd love to hear more about your reading adventures.

Cheers!
Ed

message 409: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Jerus (tiffjerus) | 2 comments Hello to everyone! Please call me Tiff. My love for reading started when I was really young. My father just let me read his books back then though I couldn't understand much of it. I started seriously reading (what I mean is that that I got a library card and saved up to buy books) when I was at fifth grade because our librarian always encourage me to be at the library

message 410: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Jerus (tiffjerus) | 2 comments I mostly read classics, historical fiction and fantasy. But I also love the horror genre especially those that give you a weird and creepy vibe. I read comics and mangas as well. My original reading goal was 60 but made it 100 since I finished the goal early.

Thank you everyone. Happy reading!

message 411: by Lily (new)

Lily (travelingthebookrealms) | 1 comments Hello! my name is Lily and I don't know if I have introduced myself before on here but here I go hehe. I am from Mexico. I began reading since childhood. My father always encouraged my sister and I to read. I can say that when I truly fell in love with reading was when I was 12 years old. my father had a copy of The Regent's Daughter by Jean Plaidy. I have always loved historical fiction and it is one of my favorite genres. Mostly I have read YA and some horror. I am currently trying to expand the genres I read. I had a reading block for years and just began last month to read again. My current goal in this years reading challenge is to complete 30 books to start. I will try to get to that number because I continued to purchase books over the years and I have a ton that I haven't read. Glad to meet you all!

message 412: by Mohammed (new)

Mohammed Khan | 1 comments Hi, my name is Mohammed and I’m 17 years old. I am from Birmingham, uk and I want to partake in this reading challenge. The genres that I like are self help, fantasy, action and sci-fi. My goal for the end of this year is to read 6 books, which isn’t a lot because I’m starting the challenge now; and I want to read a book every month which equates to 6 books by the end of the year. I found out about this app threw doing some research on reading challenges and I saw someone recommended it on Quora.

message 413: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn Hi y'all! I'm Karsyn, from Las Vegas, NV. 22 yrs old, new here to the group and excited to participate more! I set myself a goal a few years ago to read 50 books throughout the year and it ended up taking me two years to finish. By the end of 2020, I was reading so many books, I figured why not try to set that goal again for 2021. Now, it's July and I'm already 50 books in! So I set a new goal for 100. I love listening to audiobooks while I'm at work (and thankfully my workplace allows such a thing!), and recently I have been enjoying fantasy, fictions and new adult romance, as well as a few mysteries thrown in! I also enjoy making Spotify playlists inspired by the books I love. Someday, I'd like to be in charge of creating a movie soundtrack, bonus points if the movie is based on a book! So if you're ever looking for a playlist recommendation, I am more than happy to pass along some! I'm always looking for book recommendations as well, even though my TBR list is long enough already, so if you want to recommend a favorite book of yours I would love to hear it! Lovely to join y'all in this reading challenge! :)

All the best everyone to complete the challenges.

message 416: by Milly (new)

Milly King Hi! I'm Milly and I'm 22 and from England.
I usually enjoy Mystery, Thriller and Fantasy books but I will often find random genre books I enjoy just as much.
After finishing university I realised I actually had time to read for pleasure again so decided to set myself a goal of 20 books for the year! I've been doing it solo for most of the year as a bit of a Goodreads newbie but thought I'd try out joing a group as I thought it could be fun!

message 424: by Karen (new)

Karen Lovelace | 2 comments Hi, I’m Karen from Baltimore, MD. I have always been a reader and all the more so because my college degree was English. Now that I’m retired, I can read even more. This group gives me the opportunity to keep track of my books and see what others are reading.

message 426: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Scott | 1 comments Hi, all! I'm Kelly :)

I've always been a bookworm (something I was especially grateful for during the pandemic) and I'm so glad I found this group! I'm a big fan of competition and I love the structure of tasks.

My TBR shelf (okay, two shelves) can get overwhelming so I'm hoping to clear that out this year.

message 427: by Karen (new)

Karen Lovelace | 2 comments Hi - I'm new to the group and my name is Karen. I've been a voracious reader for most of my life and my major in college was English. I'm 69 years old, retired, living in an independent senior community. I'm eclectic in my book choices - everything from Dante's "Inferno" (currently taking a 6-week online class on this opus) to Harry Potter to psychological thrillers. My hometown is Baltimore, MD.

message 428: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee | 1 comments Hello! I’m K and I love all different types of books ranging from Sci-fi to classic literature. I have tentatively set my year goal to 20 books but I have a feeling I’m going to reach more around 30! Looking forward to discussing 🤗

message 429: by nayeli :) (new)

nayeli :) (naayeelii) hello! I’m Nayeli and I’m from Texas. I don’t have a favorite book genre, but if I had to choose I’ll say fantasy. I found this group by searching “2021 book challenge”. Since I’m new to the book community I haven’t read a lot of books, so for an easy start my goal for this year is to read 15 books. I hope to make some new friends and I am open to book recommendations :)

message 430: by ivanna (new)

ivanna (ivannarevoredo) | 1 comments Hey y'all better late than never! I'm Val but my friends call me V, my reading goal for this year was 35 books but I'm at 31 so hopefully I get to expand it to 50 :) This is my first group in goodreads so I'm excited to get to know all of you

message 431: by Kaitlynn (new)

Kaitlynn (kdcoy) A little over 1/2 of the year is over but hope my joining isn't too late!

Hi! My name is Kaitlynn and I'm from Kentucky, USA. I LOVE to read mystery/thriller novels. I'm really picky about what books I read. I do enjoy a spicy romance novel when I need a break from thrillers. My goal for this year is to read 35 books, I'm currently on book #33. I will for sure surpass my goal but I don't want to change my goal since it was set at the beginning of the year.

I found this group by looking through the groups tab! I've been trying to find more groups to get involved in, make more friends, and find books recommendations! Happy to be here :)

message 432: by Martina (new)

Martina (nihalasus) | 2 comments Hello!

My name is Martina and I'm 29. I'm from Italy (and currently living in Italy) but I've spent a couple of years in the States.

I love reading pretty much everything except for pure horror, but in general I tend towards fantasy, dystopian, historical fiction and thrillers.

For 2021 I want to read 52 books but so far I'm behind. I've read a ton at the beginning of the year but I've slowed down so I hope to get back!

Nice to meet all of you!

Kimberly (goodreadscomfaye_kimberly) | 130 comments Hi,

I am a graduate student seeking to switch from assigned reading back to fun reading. I am aiming to rekindle my childhood bookworm self.

Goal 9, dream at least twelve. Counting, assigned books for this year sadly.

Currently, I am relearning my favorite types of books, but I did just buy Good Omens and City of Ghosts to kick off the rest of the challenge.

message 443: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fionaharms) | 2 comments Hi, I’ve been a member of this group for a few months, but I’ve never posted. My name is Fiona, I’m a graduate student and medical assistant. My goal for books was 50 for this year, but I’ve happily surpassed that number. I’ve currently read 116 books so far this year. I’d love any recommendations. I read more fiction, romance, fantasy, young adult, but I’m always looking for a new book to branch out into other genres!

message 444: by Katie-Rose (new)

Katie-Rose (katerbels) | 1 comments I'm Kate, and my TBR pile never shrinks because I just keep adding to it. I've been an avid reader since I was little (I distinctly remember begging my Dad to teach me how to read because I wasn't learning fast enough in school), and while I love reading physical books I also always have one (or 3) in my Kindle or on my phone. For emergencies.

message 445: by Ilona (new)

Ilona | 4698 comments Welcome to the group, everyone! We are so happy to have you here :)

message 446: by sruthi (new)

sruthi | 2 comments Hello! I'm Rue. I spend a lot of time speedcubing and reading thrillers ad romance novels. I love working on fanfiction and short stories with my best friend. Any spare time I get amidst all the above and school work, I browse the dreamy shelves of our library.
My reading goal is always +100 books (I'm done with that though). It's find it delightful and pleasing to have such goals for reading.
The books that top my list are ~ The Diary Of A Young Girl *Anne Frank*, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Little Women, Twilight- Breaking Dawn; The Truly Devious series and A good Girl's Guide to Murder.

It's fabulous to be a part of this group and I am looking forward to exploring the rest of it...

message 448: by Becky (new)

Becky C | 1 comments Good morning! I’m Rebecca and I’m a 42-year-old single Mum of two boys and yet I still manage to find time to read! I love all books but keep telling myself that I need to read more non-fiction! As for fiction, I’ll read any genre! I love a challenge and I respond well to external motivation so the Goodreads challenge makes sure that I find a way to prioritise my reading as it’s so easy to forget to do the things you love nowadays. I’m looking for people who like discussing books and new books to read (although my tbr doesn’t really need to get much bigger!).

message 449: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Scott | 7 comments Hello my name is Liz, I'm from Ontario Canada. I've been a member of Goodreads for years! I love reading all sorts of books, mainly historical fiction, thrillers, romance, anything that catches my eye. My goal for this year is 25!

William Hubbartt | 1 comments Greetings,
I read (and write) action-adventure and westerns. Here's a sampling:

Remember your wild and crazy days? Take a look at “What were you thinking?” a modern western short story by author William S. Hubbartt published in Pigeon Review, a literary and art journal. [For more information, check my GR author page]

“So, what did you do this time?”
“I smiled, with that innocent subtle shrug, my mind evaluating the alternatives, weighing one response over another. My thoughts came a bit slower when I had a hangover….”
Link blow.
